Intermittent 2–3 second internet drops every 8–12 minutes on apartment-managed Ruckus network R550

I'm trying to determine whether this is a PC issue or a network issue.

  • Apartment complex with Cox fiber and a managed Ruckus network
  • PC is wired directly into the wall Ethernet jack
  • Receives a 100.77.x.x IP with gateway 100.72.0.1
  • Every 8–12 minutes I lose connectivity for about 2–3 seconds
  • OpenVPN disconnects when this happens, but I've confirmed it also happens with no VPN running
  • Continuous pings to both 100.72.0.1 and 8.8.8.8 time out simultaneously during the outage
  • Ethernet link stays at 1 Gbps
  • No Intel NIC errors, no packet errors/discards, and no Event Viewer link up/down events
  • My TV (on the same Wi-Fi network) has also occasionally lost connection while streaming

Does this sound more like an issue with the apartment's managed network/Ruckus infrastructure, or is there anything else on my PC that could still cause this? Any additional diagnostics you'd recommend?

Hi BrandonW55,

I would check on the device where Interface 100.72.0.1 is configured, as the PC is directly connected to AP (Hospitality AP).

Test by directly connecting to the Switch where this AP is connected with same VLAN and see if you see the same behavior or try giving another VLAN (Access port) and see if does any change.
