why does the access point broadcast 2 mac addresses? what appears in my WiFi analyzer is a different mac address

Dual band- 2.4 and 5 GHz.

They are BSS-ID's and as Allyson states the AP will broadcast one per WLAN per radio.

i think the 2.4Ghz band is now broadcasting the mac address, how can i check the 5Ghz band and verify if they broadcast different mac?

If you have a dual band android device install WiFi Analyser and you can select the band to view. If you have a dual band windows machine try installing Acrylic WiFi
Alternatively, if you have a controlled environment then go to the AP management screen of the AP and you should see the BBS-ID's listed with the relevant radio.
