Unleashed AP Count and highest firmware

Good Day,

We currently have the following AP's: R500,R510 and T301s.

I would like to upgrade the current firmware for unleashed to accommodate more AP's We are currently running version 200.7.10.202.145.

There is conflicting information regarding how high I can take the firmware. What we would like to achieve through this process is add additional APs to the unleashed network. Currently we can only have 25AP's. I believe with a firmware upgrade, this number can rise.

Is anyone able to guide me on the latest firmware version that can be used for the AP's mentioned above as well as how many AP's one could have if an upgrade on firmware is possible.

Thanks,

Hello @ChadB21

R500 and T301s are end of life APs and both of them support only 200.7.10.202.145 firmware version not beyond that.

R510 AP supports the latest AP firmware version 200.15.6.112.54.

In unleashed all the APs are needs to be run on the same firmware version, as you have R500, R510 and T301s APs in unleashed so you can't upgrade the unleashed controller beyond 200.7.10.202.145.

You can create a two separate unleashed network one for R500 and T301s APs with 200.7 firmware version and another for the R510 and new models APs so that it can support latest unleashed firmware version.

Please make sure that both the unleashed AP needs to be in different L3 network.

Can I go from firmware version 200.7.10.102.64 to 200.15.6.212.14?

Hi,

You can upgrade directly from 200.7.10.102.64 to 200.15.6.212.14.
However, below are the supported models in 200.15.

Beginning with release 200.8, the maximum capacity limit has been increased from 50 APs and 1,024 clients to 128 APs and 2,048 clients per RUCKUS Unleashed network in bridge mode (gateway mode supports up to 25 APs and 512 clients).

However, the limit also depends on the models of the Master AP model and whether the master is the gateway. If any AP is wave 1, the limit is 25. If all APs to be wave 2 and the master is not in gateway mode, the limit is 50. If the master is in gateway mode, the limit with all wave 2 APs remains 25. With 200.8, the limit was increased to 128 APs if the master is not in gateway mode, and 50 if it is.

So you need to use R510 as Master since it is Wave 2.
