This is a Dell E5530 with the Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN driver (10/4/12 15.5.6.48) but we have tried with four different drivers and the result has been the same. Have wondered if it's something specific to this Dell wifi card but has been difficult to diagnose. Will try some channel settings.

it has nothing to do with Channel Fly or the driver.. its IE11 when connecting to https portion of the captive portal.. standard agree on guest works.. any authentication with AD using https does not. you have to put Chrome on then it works..
