5GHz not broadcasting on Unleashed 200.16.7.0.402, R650s

I noticed that no clients were connected to 5GHz on the one Unleashed site I have running 200.16 firmware and R650 APs. I got on site and used my spectrum analyzer software to confirm that it was not broadcasting anything in 5GHz. I set up a test 5GHz only network as well with no results. I saw on forums that people had had that issue with other firmware versions in the past, but nothing mentioned for 200.16. I decided to downgrade to see if it would fix it. In the upgrade section of the Unleashed web interface there was an option given to downgrade to a previous firmware, so I just did that instead of finding and uploading a specific firmware version. It downgraded me to 200.15.6.112.54, and 5GHz was working after that. So, not sure if this is a problem multiple people are having or not, but it would be great to see a fix in the next version of Unleashed.

Hi,

Can you confirm if there is any override configuration Per AP level for channel Channelization & Channel?
If yes, before upgrading, disable Manual settings of Channel and Channelization >> Upgrade >> check if you are still facing the issue >> And then configure the manual settings.

I had manual channel and channelization set for 5GHz on each AP. After turning it off and upgrading the network, 5GHz is working fine. This seems to be a major bug as it is firstly not apparent except that you told me and secondly that it can't be expected for a network admin to go and change the settings for every individual AP on each network he upgrades and then change it back. That is very tedious and a waste of time with the opportunity for other configuration issues to come up because of the process. So has this bug been reported to the correct channel to be noted and fixed?

Hi Jackson,

Thank you for the update.

We had a known issue on the 200.16.7.0.325 which cause this issue when upgrading from previous issue.
The workaround was to follow either of the below 2 :
1. Remove the manual settings before upgrading. Or.
2. Post upgrading, Disable and Re-enable the 5 Ghz as below:
a. Go to Access Points >> Edit the Access Point
b. Select "Enable 5 Ghz band", but do not select "Override Group config" as you will encounter error while saving the config.
c. Disable "Channel" Override option and Save the setting.
d. Then disable "Override Group config" for "Enable 5 Ghz band".
e. Save the config.
f. Again edit the AP settings and enable the 5 Ghz band.

I see that you are on 200.16.7.0.402, so this issue should have been fixed.
Can you help me with the manual settings you have enabled so that we can check on this.
A screen shot will help on this.

I don't remember seeing any of that documentation, and I read all the release notes. I do remember the release notes oddly disappearing for 200.16. Anyway, I'm not sure what screenshots you need now since I upgraded and everything's working fine. There are reports across Reddit of multiple different 200.x Unleashed versions making 5GHz stop broadcasting, so it's not a new problem and also not something that should be coming through stable Ruckus updates onto top network hardware worth thousands of dollars.
