So I'm loving the Unifi hardware and software package. It does everything I want it to at a reasonable price, but I worry about redundancy and uptime.
Right now I'm using a Cloud Key as my controller and it works great, but I'm wondering what others are doing in the event the Cloud Key fails. Do you keep an extra one on hand in the event you need to replace it? Or do you keep an old PC/hardware on site ready to replace the controller?
I guess I'm having a hard time installing Unfi in a production environment as there is a single point of failure, the controller. How do you mitigate this issue?
Also, I'm using a pi-hole as my primary DNS and the USG as the secondary DNS. The pi-hole seems fine for my home network, but I worry about the scalability of the pi-hole when I add 50+ clients. How do you setup your DNS?

Interesting theme. Ive got my unifi controller on VM. There is no redunduncy but It is possible to deploy the controller during 1 day in the same domain whith working controller, & its free. So in case if its very important (client traficc goes to internet from controller?) it is possible to have 1 parallell ready VM port whith the same (or newer!) version of controller or U D purshase second Cloud dungle to be absolutly redunduncy...

The best redunduncy - two HW controllers in the redundunt chain (different vendors has different algorytms). Any vendors. We v got such a pairs from ZD1200_Х2 & SZ104_Х2 & cisco 3504_Х2. There is no better variant for the maintenance reliability.
