After power outage I have intermittent internet access. I understand I need a replacement as the Ruckus is rebooting as a router and not an access/switch?
How do I get a replacement as my neighbors have done?
John
Hi @jcgraybeal
Hope you are doing well
If there was a blackout or power outage and the switch reboot because of that, most possible your switch starts running the wrong code which we call ‘routing code’ this is a known issue.
An identifier of this problem is that it comes out as Switch-Router in the unleashed dashboard.
There we are going to see 2 important things the
MAC address: Physical address of the device this never changes
An IP address is a unique address (logical) that identifies a device on the internet or a local network like your home (this can change and may not be the same as the one shown on the dashboard)
1- To fix this issue, we must identify the ‘currently’ IP address assigned by your local router to the switch
-We can try the IP address that shows in the dashboard copy and paste it in the URL if that redirects you to the login page for the ICX-7150-C12P that is the correct one if not.
I will leave you a guide how to perform an IP scanner on your local network to identify the switch IP address very easily.
How to find my Ruckus “Devices IP address” using free applications
https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-find-my-Ruckus-Devices-IP-address-using-free-applications/td-p/47027
2-Once we identified the IP address of the switch proceed to access remote to the device 'command Line'
How to remotely access to 'ICX 7150-12P' or 'access points' "Network devices"
https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-remotely-access-to-ICX-7150-12P-or-access-points-quot/td-p/47388
If you can access to the Command line should look like this:
ICX7150-C12 Router>
3-Here is a quick guide to understand how to fix the 'routing code issue' but basically you need only need to run the following commands once you are on the command line 'CLI'
Note: Hit Enter to accept each command
enable
copy flash flash secondary
boot system flash secondary yes
example:
ICX7150-24P Router>enable (hit enter to accept the command) ICX7150-24P Router#copy flash flash secondary (hit enter to accept the command and wait: until the flash finished ) ICX7150-24P Router#boot system flash secondary yes ( hit enter to accept the command : the switch will reboot )

4-If the access via IP address is not possible here is a guide how to access to the Switch via console (cable access between your PC to the ICX 7150-C12P) in this case we need a USB type C to USB standard or Console cable Rj45 to USB.

Once you are log in the ICX-7150-C12P please follow up the same steps that are on point '3'
Note:We do not replace Switches due to this know issue without having done the necessary troubleshooting

I can access to the command line via mac terminal. However, none of the commands are available after “enable"

The AP is in "ICX7150-C12 Router” mode.
How do I fix this. (I have tried via usb with a mac and windows and I cannot connect) So using my Mac via Terminal is the way to get access. I just need to know what commands to use?

From the web access, I do not have anything that looks like the above? I am logging in as “admin"
Based on your description you are connected to the Access point CLI instead of the Switch, however, we can identify the Switch as a neighbor, by running the next commands get lldp neighbors, as you see in my example the IP address of the Switch is 192.168.0.3
1:Running the LLDP command to find the neighbors from the connection you already have to the Access Point. One of your neighbors will be your switch,
In my example, the IP address of the switch is "192.168.0.3 ".
Ruckus>enable
Ruckus#ap-mode
ruckus(ap-mode)# get lldp neighbors
2: Once you know the IP address of the Switch, please try to gain access to the switch as you did with the Access Point CLI.

That makes sense, but this this what I get when I run "get lldp neighbors"
There is no IP address???

This can happen because the Switch is running a routing code, so will cause bad connectivity, and LLDP protocol will may not share all its data, try the next steps.
1:Remove the cable from the Switch and the ISP router and reconned.
2:Run back the command from the Access Point.
3:If still no show, you need to gain access to the Switch via console, because the IP address will not be found. Check the next guide to gain console access.

4:Once you gain access, follow up the next guide:

Getting closer, I have a windows machine connected via the USB C. And MobaXterm. But the screen is just running at "user and log in” prompts. Like the enter key is stuck down? How do I stop the screen to actually sign in? Something is wrong. I can watch it boot looks OK but never gets to a point I can log in? The screen is just running with the log in prompts?
User Access Verification
Please Enter Login Name:
Please Enter Password:
User login Failure.
User Access VerificationPlease Enter Login Name:Please Enter Password:User login Failure.
I can not seem in log on with Putty
I tried SecureCRT and MobaXterm and both are just caught in the login loop over and over and over. I have reset to factory reset and same thing. Caught in the login loop.
Any other ideas?
Like you are from Console access, let's perform a password recovery.
1:Console access to the switch
2:Reset the device (power cycle the switch)
Commands:
3- Enter “b” to stop at boot monitor
Enter the next command no password
(skips the password check when the system comes back in the next boot)
4- Enter the next command reset
Set new password commands:
Enable
Config t
username super password sp-admin
Enable super-user-password sp-admin
write memory
Reload
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJS28DWbHM4
I have the password. It is that the login is in a never ending loop. It does not stop and I there is not opportunity to enter a user name or password. It just keep looping without stopping. I have tried CTRL Z CTRL C nothing stops the looping .
Try the password recovery if still does not allow you, please send me a screenshot of the error, not just the logs please the screenshot.
how do I send you a screen shot? You really need a video. The screen just loops and loops never stopping, no way to stop the loop no way to enter anything.
I am able to log in via PuTT6 but all the same. no way to stop the looping. No way to use “b” to stop the looping. Can’t reset password. Just a continuous looping for log in info. Nothing will stop the looping. The running of the screen of the king in info. “B” does nothing to stop it.
1. I received the new switch.
2. Plugged in and working under the switch flash. However, the secondary flash is the router flash.
3. I was able to get the switch IP address via terminal and the "get lldp neighbors” command.
4. I can log into the switch via the IP address.
5. When I connect vie a usb C cable and Putty I get the same scrolling/looping screen see this link.
https://youtube.com/shorts/asGKeUwiSXU
This is the exact same thing that the old switch was doing. I am UNABLE to enter any commands. UNABLE to enter a username or a password. UNABLE to stop the scrolling/looping.
5. HOW CAN I CHANGE THE SECONDARY FLASH to the switch. Therefore, ensuring that when I loose power again the switch will stay in switch mode and not go to its secondary router flash?
Have you tried to access via WEB access option :
Use the following guide as reference:

Have you tried Telnet option ?
The command is :
nc ipswitch 23
SSH can be multiples combinations
SSH username@IPswitch
ssh admin@192.168.0.54
ssh super@192.168.0.554
The passwords can be :

Hi
Can you provide instruction on how to use the Web Interface to copy the switch flash from the primary to the secondary boot? I have Primary boot is the switch flash and Secondary boot flash is the Router
The only way to have the switch image on both Primary and Secondary is via CLI
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/CbJ-gHkNZ7M
I have a new 7150. It is working correctly now and it is running as a switch. HOWEVER I can not intact with it via a CLI.
I need to copy the Primary Flash/Bios from the Primary to the Secondary via CLI.
However just as my last 7150 when I connect via a USB C from the 7150 to a USB on a (2 different Windows laptops) laptop computer I get the same issue as before the login and username are just looping/scrolling. There seems to be no way for the terminal program (either Putty or Mobaxterm) to allow me to enter any keyboard inputs. No way to “b” for a new password. No way for anything? Please see youtube video.
I have tried 2 different computes and now I have a new 7150?
Please tell me how I can assess a CLI?
Hi jcgraybeal
