Inherited Ruckus system - Connection Issue

Hi there, I have recently moved home and I have inherited the integrated Ruckus Access Points system. I cannot however remove the previous owner (and different broadband from which i now have installed) and need help - I have tried to reset the device but to no avail!? Would massively appreciate what steps I need to take? THANK YOU!!! Rob

Sure, you can try logging in first using the default credentials. The only thing you need to make sure of is that you are on the same network. However, if the issue persists, I will provide the proper steps to perform a factory reset and start from scratch.

Option 1: Accessing from the Same Network

Connect a computer via Ethernet cable directly to the ICX 7150 switch. This will place the computer on the same network as the wireless system, allowing you to access unleashed.ruckuswireless.com or use the direct IP address of the Access Point.

Perform a physical factory reset on the connected AP using the reset pinhole.
Once reset, connect to the setup Wi-Fi network: Configure.Me-XXXXXX.
Note: If you see a recovery-XXXXXX network instead, the password will be the exact Serial Number of that Access Point.
Follow the steps in this guide to reconfigure the system:

Step 3: Reconnect the Second AP

If the first AP sets up successfully, reconnect the second AP to the switch so it automatically joins the Unleashed network as a Member AP.

Can you please share video of how to do a complete factroy reset, showing how to run off and isolate APs. I have approx 5 APs in the property so how do i know which one to reset? Thank you so much for your help!

Hi @RobThomson123

Sure, I will share the tutorial video as well. However, since you have 5 Access Points, you need to power off 4 of them and leave powered on only the unit you are resetting. By default, the master AP should be the unit with the Control (CTL) light turned ON.

If the issue persists, switch to a different AP and repeat the same process. I explained this in detail in my previous message; please refer to

on the wifi "configure me" there is a password? How do i access it?

I have disconnectd 4 and now the remaining 1 is flashing green on the CTL…is that correct?

If it asks for a password, the default password is the serial number of that same Access Point.

Regarding the CTL LED status, here is what the light patterns mean:

Slowly Flashing Green (every 2 seconds): RUCKUS Unleashed Master AP discovery is in progress.
Fast Flashing Green (twice per second): The AP is receiving configuration settings or a firmware image upgrade.
Solid Green: The AP is functioning as the RUCKUS Unleashed Master.

It is expected to see a slow flash at the beginning of the setup process while the network initializes, as this Access Point will become the Unleashed Master once configuration is complete.

Thank you, ok so the green CTL light is flashing every second. I stuck in the serial number into the "configure" password, it says it is secured but no internet so not loading? What do you suggest? For what is it worth the digits that follow the configureme wifi match the MAC ones on the AP so feels we are not too far off?

Hi there, hope you had a nice weekend. I've spent more time trying to sort the system. I isolated each of the five APs and tried factroy reset on all and the same issue arises, it's shows "configure me" in my wifi but does not connect the internet to it so i cannot go to unleash etc…? Can someone please reset centrally or suggest alternatives please? Really not sure what more i can do!?

Hi RobThomson123,

There is no option to reset remotely, however, given your set up has a new broadband and it sounds like you are following all the steps correctly, I'm starting to suspect there is something that is not connected correctly.

If the issues persist, then check the next steps.

If I understood correctly, the LED lights on the AP are:

pwr is solid green

ctl is flashing green slowly

air, 2.4 and 5g are off.

This means the ap is getting a valid ip address but is not able to find the master ap. To find the ap on the network we can use this tool Advanced IP scanner, its free you can download it on your windows computer. Here the detailed steps.

Once you find the Unleashed AP IP, try to access it by entering the ip on your browser (Firefox works best), see if you get a set up page to create a new WIFI network and the admin username and password.

I’m helping Rob with his Ruckus AP issues.

The configure.meSSID has a lock symbol and requires a passphrase. Logging onto the R550 I see that its running software version 6.1.0.0.1595. Having connected one AP to the Lan it has internet connectivity but cant access a host server to upgrade firmware.

PWR and CTL are flashing, nothing else is lit. When I log into the device there is a message “This AP is currently unable to provide wireless access. To resolve, connect to a Ruckus Controller.

I’m therefore unable to run the setup wizard.

To recap there are 5 x R550 connected to a cisco switch which have been reset as the system was inherited with no credentials

How should I proceed to reinstate a mesh network?

Thank you for your reply. That is a great find! 6.1.0.0.1595 is not Unleashed software, we will need to upgrade the AP to Unleashed in order to get to the setup wizard.
