Ruckus Lennar home configuration help

Hi,

I recently moved to a Lennar pre-owned town house (built year 2021). It has ruckus network system (switch + 3 APs) that I've been trying to configure but couldn't do so far. The home internet is provided by AT&T.

Ethernet switch: ICX-7150-C12P

Access point: R510 series

I didn't do any factory reset yet, so just wanted to share the status of switch and APs before performing reset. From unleashed app or web, I cannot find configure.xxx ssd. Please let me know which device needs reset.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve the issues you are experiencing with your RUCKUS setup.

Based on the information provided, it appears that you need assistance in setting up the RUCKUS devices in your recently moved Lennar Home.

From the pictures you shared, I see your connection and light status of the Switch and Access Points are normal. If you do not have login information, you can proceed with Step 7 in the article below.

Please refer to the mentioned RUCKUS Lennar Knowledge Base self-help article on RUCKUS Lennar Home devices Connectivity Setup and Configuration Guidelines.

Note: As you have 2 R510 Access Points in your setup, remove the cables of any TWO Access Points from the RUCKUS Switch Ports, and perform the factory reset only on the ONE connected access point. Once you complete it, connect the unplugged Access point cables back to the Switch ports, and it will sync up with the configurations from the factory reset Access Point.

Hi Imran,

After much effort, I'm able to reset one AP. From mobile unleashed app, the configuration didn't work as the firmware versions are not supported. I then used web from laptop to configure the AP and could successfully create wifi. However, I'm unable to update the firmware or use the dashboard from web. I have now connected the other two APs from switch.

Update: I don't know how but the webpage login worked. I can see 3 APs working, however, the switch is disconnected. I tried to connect using admin credentials but it didn't work. We may need to check some configurations of your RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch to troubleshoot the Switch connectivity on the Unleashed.

To proceed with troubleshooting the issue, please follow the steps outlined below to access the Command Line Interface (CLI) and provide the necessary command outputs:

1. First, identify the current IP address assigned to the switch ICX-7150-C12P by your local router. You can use an IP scanner tool to easily locate the switch's IP address on your network. Here is a guide on how to perform this using IP Scanner free applications:

2. Once you have identified the IP address of the switch, proceed to access the Command Line Interface (CLI) of the RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P switch. Here is a guide on how to access the CLI:

If you can access the Command line the prompt should look like below:

ICX7150-C12 Router> OR

ICX7150-C12 Switch>

3. After successfully accessing the CLI, please execute the following commands and provide the outputs:

enable

show version

show flash

show inline power

show inline power detail

show interface brief

Hi Imran,

I found the IP address but unable to connect to it using ssh or nc from my macbook. Unfortunately, I don't have a windows m/c to work with.

ssh admin@192.168.1.xx (xx is actual number but I'm not showing here)

or, ssh super@192.168.1.xx

Unable to negotiate with 192.168.1.xx port 22: no matching key exchange method found. Their offer: diffie-hellman-group14-sha1,diffie-hellman-group1-sha1

I tried to create ssh key using:

mith@Mac ~ ssh-keygen -R 192.168.1.xx

Cannot stat /Users/mith/.ssh/known_hosts: No such file or directory

---

I also tried with telnet

nc 192.168.1.xx 23

here, there was no error but prompt didn't change, so it didn't work.

The error message:

"Unable to negotiate with 192.168.1.xx port 22: no matching key exchange method found. Their offer: diffie-hellman-group14-sha1,diffie-hellman-group1-sha1"

means that your macOS SSH client does not accept the ssh-rsa key type by default anymore (due to security deprecation in newer versions of OpenSSH), but the server only offers ssh-rsa.

Fix Options

Option 1: Allow ssh-rsa temporarily via CLI

Add the command: -oHostKeyAlgorithms=+ssh-rsa option when connecting:

ssh -oHostKeyAlgorithms=+ssh-rsa admin@192.168.1.177

Replace ‘admin’ with your actual username.

Option 2: Allow ssh-rsa permanently for this host

Edit or create (if it doesn’t exist) your SSH config file:

nano ~/.ssh/config

Add the following block:

Host 192.168.1.177

HostKeyAlgorithms +ssh-rsa

PubkeyAcceptedAlgorithms +ssh-rsa

Save and exit (Ctrl + X, then Y, then Enter).

Try connecting again:

ssh admin@192.168.1.177

Why does this happen?

Newer versions of OpenSSH (8.8 and above) disable ssh-rsa by default due to its dependence on SHA-1, which is considered weak.

Could you please try accessing the Switch IP address through a web browser and attempting to log in to the Switch dashboard?

If the IP address is correct, you should see the Switch dashboard interface similar to the one shown in the screenshot below. This will help confirm that the IP address belongs to the Switch.

Hi Imran,

After the recent power outrage, I experienced slow wifi. I did reset on ICX switch. I could open the IP address assigned to the ICX, however, no login/password worked. I tried all the combinations from the default/commonly used credentials. In the unleased app, the ICX shows connecting but the ICX firmware is not supported. Can you please help me fix this? I have MAC laptop but not windows, so please suggest me steps accordingly.
