Ruckus R510 AP not broadcasting wifi after hard reset

I have a Ruckus switch with one R510 AP. We had some storms a couple nights ago and the internet was not working consistently. I also have lost the password to the Unleashed app, so I wanted to do a hard reset to be able to reset the password and hopefully fix the internet issues. I pressed the factory reset button for 15 seconds and released. Now the AP is not working. The PWR and CTL lights are on and steady, but the 5G and 2.4G lights are not on. I cannot connect to any internet at this time.

Thank you for the information you shared.

From the case description, I understand that you are unable to connect through the Access points.

Before we can help, we need to check few configurations on the Switch and which version the Switch is currently running.

Please follow the below steps and help us with the queries,

1. To check this, we must identify the ‘current’ IP address assigned by your local router to the switch ICX-7150-C12P

I will leave you a guide on how to perform an IP scanner on your local network to identify the switch IP address very easily.

How to find the IP Address of the RUCKUS Devices (Switch and APs) using IP Scanner free applications:

2. Once we identify the IP address of the switch proceed to access remotely to the device “Command Line”

If you can access the Command line should look like this:

ICX7150-C12 Router> OR

ICX7150-C12 Switch>

Please enter the below commands once you log in to CLI and share the output.

Note: Hit Enter to accept each command

enable

show version

show flash

I have the IP address but cannot get past the second step. I do not know the username and password (one of the reasons for the hard reset) This is what I see when I do step 2:

This is what I'm seeing in the terminal when I try to "access the command line". Nothing happens, no matter what I try. What am I doing wrong?

For some reason, the Configure.Me wifi is showing up on my phone and the app says it's connected to the wifi and ready for setup, even though the lights on the AP are not lit up. BUT when I press start in the app, it says the "AP version not supported. Please upgrade your AP" How do I upgrade it when I can't even access it in the app?

I would request you to please upgrade the Unleashed on a Laptop web browser using Mozilla FireFox web browser.

Once you login to the AP through web browser, please upgrade the AP to the recommended version.

Please follow the below RUCKUS Lennar Knowledge base self-help article which will help you to upgrade the Ruckus AP to a recommended version 200.15.6.12.304

After upgrading all Access Points, uninstall the current Unleashed application and install the updated version. Please try to login again and check the version.

I've decided to give up and just remove the Ruckus system. I cannot log in because I don't know the username/password. I've tried factory resetting it, but it says that the AP is not supported and that I need to update it. I can't update it since I can't log in without the username/password. I'm going in circles with all of the 'expert' suggestions. This would go so much faster and easier if I could just talk to someone and quickly explain and ask simple questions but obviously Lennar/Ruckus have thrown their hands up at the situation.

I am not sure where you are seeing "????", but there is nowhere to click Enter on the screenshot I sent you. I do not have a Windows computer, therefore I am going to have to officially give up. We've been going back and forth for over 2 weeks now with no solution. In that time, I have obviously had to find another solution for WIFI that does not involve Ruckus, because I need internet in my house. Currently I am just using the WIFI coming from our AT&T router/modem. While the signal is not as strong, it's working...which is better than the Ruckus AP right now. Since I can't get into the system and none of the usernames/passwords work for anything, I think I will need to just walk away from this situation. I really wish Lennar had either put in a more user friendly system (I seriously don't know what or how to do half the things you are asking me to do...for example, "access CLI through console cable". CLI? Console cable? I have no idea!) or at least kept the phone line for people to ask questions (this 2 week conversation could have taken less than 30 minutes over the phone). But then again, Lennar doesn't care AT ALL about their customers. We are used to it by now. Thank you for trying to help!

I went back to the terminal and hit enter and it did say "telnet@ICX7150-C12 Router>", so I did each of the commands that were requested. Here are the 3 screenshots after each command. I'm not sure if I did it right but this is what I ended up with.

Thank you for sharing the response.

From the below screenshot you shared, I understand that the Switch is booted up on the secondary partition which is running on Routing code (SPR)

The Switch should run on the Switching code (SPS) to avoid these issues for Lennar home users. Due to a power outage/power spike, the Switch boots up on the other partition which may be running on a ‘Routing Code’ results in causing this issue.

Please follow the below RUCKUS Lennar Knowledge base self-help article which will help you to fix the issue when the Switch is running in the Routing code.

I did the steps listed, and I guess it is now running on Switching code. (see screenshot). So now, I did an IP address scan and another Ruckus device comes up. I'm assuming it's the AP? So I typed in that IP address and got the setup wizard. Is this basically setting it up like it's new? I'm not sure which option to choose. Thank you

Glad to know that the Switch is back to Switching code after performing the troubleshooting steps.

From the picture you shared, please select the Typical install option and it launches the setup wizard.

Please enter the credentials and complete the setup process.
