Device(s) constantly rejoining in short time frame
unknown
In my event/activities log, i'm seeing a device joining multiple times within without any disconnect message, like the following
2014/02/13 13:53:49 Low User[4c:8d:79:e4:bf:5e] joins WLAN[WLAN1] from AP[zf7962-01]
2014/02/13 13:51:54 Low User[4c:8d:79:e4:bf:5e] joins WLAN[WLAN1] from AP[zf7962-01]
2014/02/13 13:51:17 Low User[4c:8d:79:e4:bf:5e] joins WLAN[WLAN1] from AP[zf7962-01]
2014/02/13 13:47:04 Low User[4c:8d:79:e4:bf:5e] joins WLAN[WLAN1] from AP[zf7962-01]
2014/02/13 13:45:43 Low User[4c:8d:79:e4:bf:5e] joins WLAN[WLAN1] from AP[zf7962-01]
What does that mean if it's constantly joining the network from the same AP?
Thanks,
Eugene

Is it just that device? If so, the "single device" rule applies - it's the device (it's an Apple of some type).
If not, it may indicate low signal strength (maybe it's just at the limit of range) or interference near that AP.
unknown
Thanks Keith. It seems to only be this one device, a Windows laptop.
I think it's possibly a faulty wireless NIC, or something else locally on the laptop. As when it drops, it can't see the WLAN anymore, then when it joins a different WLAN then the original one will appear again and can rejoin it.
We've checked the signal strength and that doesn't seem to be an issue, can't see any interference from other WLANs. Not sure about interference yet from other devices on the signal.
Thanks

Do you have ChanelFly enabled and does this happen when a channel change occurs?
unknown
Nope, don't have ChannelFly enabled, using background scanning and when it drops out, the AP isn't changing channels.
We have set up another laptop and ran a continuous ping to an internal server without packet loss, so I am thinking it is the laptop itself.
Thanks for everyone's help.
