Ruckus R510 Slowness
unknown
Ruckus R510 Slowness - My topology Comcast Xfinity X1 router with 1Gbps service, measuring 850Mbps as the output. This goes to a Rucker switch C12P, and the output there is 825Mbps. However, coming out of the 2 APs, even with AP to AP speedtest, its only 400Mbps. At remote location in my house, i am only getting 40Mbps. Troubleshooting with Lennar Home network specialist, everything pointed back to the 2 APs, Ruckus R510 Unleashed. What was the last known working FW version that supported full-duplex speedtest with results near max speed ~800Mbps+?

Good afternoon, What kind of device are you testing with? also, I feel like knowing your SNR/RSSI channelization (Width), how many streams your running would be important to know as well.

multiple devices, laptop, wired connection. We took the APs, directly to the Switch, which is hardwired to the Comcast Modem/Router. Disabled the WiFi SSID on the router. version of FMW I am running on Ruckus Unleashed R510 now is: Current firmware version: 200.7.10.102.64
I dont believe we have a noise or RF issue. more like fwm version or configuration.

interesting, so you're having a bandwidth problem while connecting through eth1 as well? Are you by chance using a local IPERF3 server to help you? My thought here is that you'll need whoever owns the APs(owns the support entitlement) to set up a case with support directly.
unknown
Yes, Eth1 straight to the Switch, no issue. 825Mbps. We already opened a case with Ruckus.
We just downgraded to older version:
R510_200.6.10.1.312.bl7
No, we are not using local IPERF3 server at all.
and wifi speedtest coming off of the Ruckus APs, doubled. However, AP-2-AP still hovering at 425Mbps.
The excercise of downgrading to an older fmw doubled our speedtest on WiFi, leads me to think this is a purely firmware issue.

This seems about right. According to the specs, it should get theoretically 867 Mbps. This assumes a Wave 2 device capable of utilizing 80 Mhz channelization on 5ghz.

When it comes to WiFi, take the spec, cut it in half and generally you'll get your real life throughput. Sure there might be Firmware issue, but... this seems normal.
Are you sure you are using 5ghz on all your devices? Maybe try disabling 2.4 so you are getting a more isolated test.

I agree Phy rate and Link rate aren't the same. I do wonder about joseph's speed variability. I feel like IPERF3 will give him a better more nuanced result. don't forget to run your tests in '-R' mode!
unknown
I am not sure about being on 5Ghz all the time. The Home network guy told me, it automatically scaled betwteen 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz as neeeded. But, lots of smart devices in the smart home are on 2.4Gghz, so I can't completely disabled that antenna.
unknown
You can spin up a new SSID and select 5ghz instead of 'both' 2.4 and 5ghz

ok, have to read up and refresh my memory on iPerf3. Will do that with the other experiment you suggested and update here, later..
Btw, these are R510s Unleashed, not R510s Wave 2 Ruckus APs.
unknown
um, wired to wired using iperf3. (Baseline)
wired to wireless doing using iperf3
wireless to wireless ( same AP) using iperf3
wireless to wireless (Adjacent APs) using iperf3
I'm doing my tests now!!!

i dont have usb-c adaptor on my laptop for Ethernet. I was using it earlier from the Lennar guy.

Just realized I left this thread after solving my problem. To recap, got rid of Comcast. They can't deliver 1Gbps, only spoke about it. Went with AT&T Fiber Optics got 1Gbps all the time. Also upgraded to R610s, so much happier. Getting 500Mbps on WiFi all around the house.
