Plugging other ethernet devices into the back of new APs

I just installed a new R700 AP. The location I installed it at I used the port from an existing printer which I then plugged into the back of the new AP. From there the printer stopped working despite having a green ethernet connection light next to the printer impute cable. I think the problem is that the AP is not allowing traffic through the port the cable is plugged into. Is there a good way to enable this function? I read the
