ZoneDirector 1200, smart mesh and different APs

Hi,

I am planning to use R510 APs in smart mesh but I would like to use r310/r300 normally connected to the network. Will this all work with ZoneDirector 1200 ?

Hi,

I'm aware that R3xx does not support Mesh that's why I will use R510 for Mesh. I just want to use R310 as standard access point. Question is, will zone director be able to manage r510 in mesh and r310 in non mesh mode?

Zonedirector will be able to manage all your AP's however when it comes to handling R510 Mesh AP, there has to be a similar type radio AP as Root AP.
R310/300 cannot support mesh hence won;t be able to handle R510 as mesh AP.

Okay so if I connect R510 in mesh and leave R310 connected by ethernet in a normal mode it will all work.

Simply saying I want to have 10 R510 in smart Mesh with 2 Root APS and 10 R310 connected by POE working in normal mode totally independent from mesh. I just wanted to make sure that there will be no issues with ZoneDirector.

One more question which is not strictly related to main topic. What is minimum distance between APs on 2.4 Ghz in your opinion. We are struggling with signal as this is all based in warehouse area with narrow racking and difficult products.

R310 wil be placed on the wall where r510 next to the ceiling 18m above the ground level. I have a feeling that maximum physical distance that we can put them will be appox. 8m away of each other which can be dangerously close.

You need at least 2 R510 APs. One for root AP and the other for mesh. Can you say more about the structure of the building? Do you have the option to have a wall between the R310 and R510?

It is open plan warehouse which will have VNA racking very soon. Current WiFI is too weak to work within VNA environment. I've planned to have R510 ceiling mounted running in mesh mode ( 8 mesh APs 2 Root APs) and R310 wall mounter connected by Ethernet cable in normal mode.

VNA racking combined with products create huge barrier that's why AP's on a ceiling will be 8.5m apart of each other. Distance between wall mounted APs will be simmilar.

Finally distance between r310 and r510 will be about 20m plus R510 will be mouted on high ceiling about 18m high.
