How do I do this
Richard_NZ
I have a R310 running the wireless in the house. It's connected to a switch via ethernet - about 2m long. Also connected to that switch is a 7363 - I'm using the PoE port. The cable is about 20m long.
I'm doing something wrong, but I don't know what. The power light does not come on the 7363. I no longer have a ZD to control it, assuming I could use the R310 as its controller.
As I say, the 7363 is 20m away from the R310 as my goal is to boost the wifi to the back of the house - between the two AP's are a lot of walls and metal.
Please could ppl advise me on what I need to do to achieve my goal
Thank you.

Does the 7363 power up when you use the same cable as the R310?
Richard_NZ
I don't follow, sorry.
use the same power cable as the 310? But then the 310 would not have power.
use the same ethernet cable - but then the 310 wouldn't be connected to the switch
something else.
Sorry, can you help me out here please.
unknown
Yes- to determine if it is a cable or termination problem.
Unplug the R310 and try to power the 7363 with the same cable.
Richard_NZ
Ok done - Yes, the power cable for the 310 does power up the 7363.
unknown
So you probably have a problem with the 20m cable powering the 7363. Can you try replacing it?
unknown
hello,
first thing first...
ZF7363 cannot be converted into unleashed mode.
R310 does not have mesh function.
with both AP's hooked through wire from a switch, you need to configure both AP's seperately..
Richard_NZ
Ok cool - thanks for that clarity.
So, I didn't know about mesh. But you think I can get the 7636 to work independently - if so, then how please as I can't find a way to connect to it - as i say, I don't have a ZD. What do you recommend please.

One more thing - if I have a Ubiquiti device to replace the proposed 7636, and I run this at 5G, will it conflict with the 5G wireless of the R310?
unknown
yes, you can make ZF7363 work independently... How is it working now??
we can make it work as a standalone..
unknown
Is it powering on POE or power adapter?
unknown
well... this is a common issue however this can be easily avoided by having both R310 n ZF7363 work on a different static 5ghz channel or we put them in a auto channel mode..
PS: ZF7363 is far far better product than any ubiquity product... don't ditch ZF7363 so soon unless it is NOT working.. i got a one working at home for the past 8 years,,, working just like i bought it yesterday

PoE - I'm using a PoE injector to power it up.
Richard_NZ
Sweet - I had it for 5 years and it's excellent. But upgraded to the R310 as I sold the ZD to a friend. So, without this I don't know how to get inside the 7636.
unknown
so i am assuming that only R310 is up & running and we need to get this ZF7363 up and it is powering ok on POE.... If you don't know the current state of ZF7363 like its IP, username n pwd. Better to start from scratch n reconfig it.
do you know your network details like spare private IP, subnet mask, default GW, DNS etc??
unknown
here is what i will do:
1) while it is powered on, remove it from network if it is connected by chance/error. perform a hard reset by presssing the hard reset button for 10 secs which is on the rear of the unit next to ethernet port.
2) once it is hard reset, it will be available on 192.168.0.1 its default ip, you configure your computers LAN card for static ip which is in same series as ZF7363 default it.
3) username n pwd is super/sp-admin
Richard_NZ
Cannot connect.
Using AC adapter to power up the 7636. Ethernet to my pc. Hard reset. Cannot ping 192.168.0.1 or a 'bunch' of ip's near that border. Pretty sure this is because it is now not showing any wireless light, just the power light. Hard rest twice more and twice pulled the power supply and repowered. Still not transmitting wireless at all any more. Have tried ethernet cable in all three device ports.
Richard_NZ
Any more ideas please guys?
unknown
after hard-resetting your ZF7363, did you configure your computer LAN card to be on same default IP series as ZF7363??
If answer is yes, its broken. you need to RMA the device. Check with Ruckus support for replacement options..
unknown
'Way back when', it was 'normal' (sort of) to have to do the hard reset +5 times, before it would take on the AP in question. Could also just be me, couldn't count to 10. You cannot connect to wireless for configuration. This has to go by cable. Try (like AlphaDog suggests) to set your laptop IP address in the same IP subnet as the AP, ex. 192.168.0.199 / 255.255.255.0 and you are good to go.
