wireless connection unauthenticated in rukus controller

Hello,
We have a client who is trying to connect their treadmills to a rukus R610 unleashed.
the connection shows up in the connection manager but states is unauthenticated.
What do I need to do to make it an authenticated connection and how can i prevent this from happening in the future?
