Is there a way to govern the speed of a VLAN?
jim_millerick_3
I have a client who has about 10 VLANs. The overall internet connection speed is 1 gigabit. They'd like to give their employees full speed when available but they'd like to max some of the guest vlans to say 50mbit. Is this possible to have mixed speed VLANs on the same AP and to choose specific fractions of the speed?

My thought here would be to limit Vlan speeds to the internet at the firewall. Easy, and effective.

in addition to this, there are traffic ACLs that can be applied per SSID, assuming though that each Vlan has it's own SSID to ride.

Thanks - I agree but the firewall we have only let's you set priority, not speed.

The traffic profile is your friend if your controller supports it. What system are you using to control your Access points?

So that rate limiting looks interesting - I've never noticed that - very helpful. Is that 50 the max speed for uplink and an empty value mean there is no speed limit (as fast as the internet connection will allow)?
We have about 12 APs - we are using the ruckus unleashed AP to control the other APs.

no, I got distracted and forgot to put the 50Mb/s in. Those values in a SCG/VZ can be anything between 1-200mb/s I believe.

Thanks!
