Updating a Ruckus unleashed AP's after the master has been updated
unknown
The Master AP is running 200.6.10.1.310
Our 9 other APs are running 200.0.9.9.608
I log into the interface, go to a AP which tells me it needs upgrading, I select upgrade point it towards a local copy, it uploads, I hit the update button, its says 100% success I can then close the window reboot or cancel so I reboot and nothing changes. Even a hardware reboot does not move things onward.
For all the 9 APs they report firmware 200.0.9.9.608 on the dashboard (needs upgrading) and in the fireware upgrade window report firmware 200.6.10.1.310 at the top.
I have also tried upgrading via preload image, no dice.
Upgrading via admin>administer>upgrade is not an option as it only lists the master AP.
Am I missing something here is there a better way to upgrade an unleashed AP, Help!

No one have any ideas?

try another browser, may be it looks different there.
Upgrading via admin>administer>upgrade is the normal way. and, so far, it worked for me.

Tried IE, Chrome, firefox. Same result admin>admininister>upgrade just updates the one AP. The rest stay disconnected and solo updates still get me no where.

Hi,
I have never upgraded an Unleashed Network, so all I can do is point you to the Unleashed User's Guide on pg 247 where the Upgrade section starts.
https://ruckus-support.s3.amazonaws.com/private/documents/2288/Unleashed-200.6-UserGuide-RevA-201806...
If neither the Online or Local upgrades don't work for you, then check with the current Release Notes for Known issues -- I found 2 separate upgrade known issues that may pertain to your situation? Good luck.

Do The UAP have dns ip?
unknown
The APs all have a IP via DHCP reservations. They are all providing network access. They have DNS but not internet access which is controlled via proxy.

Looking closer I just realised that any upgrades etc only try to install to the master AP and no other AP. This occurs even if I access the AP via the Access point list and select a manual upgrade it still only gives one AP as an option.

You Have to connect aps to internet for upgrade.
Aps use cloud server to upgrade.
Master provide aps just cloud server url.
unknown
That is going to be a problem, the site does not have open internet access only via a proxy.
When I closed the whole site to update via my phone only the master AP updated, but closing a whole site is far from easy.
Presently I am just considering ditching Ruckus entirely, many APs are struggling with the load and this update issue might just make it cheaper to replace rather than expand the system.

why do not you just give them internet?

1. Unleashed APs assume you are on a single LAN, having a DHCP server and Def-GW to the Internet/Extranet.
2. Upgrading the Master AP to a new version, will cause it to upgrade all other Unleashed APs (even different models)
on a normal behaving LAN (see #1 above).
3. You can use Local upgrade option, if you don't have Internet access for an Online upgrade. Download the specific
AP model Unleashed firmware image from the Support portal for your Master AP model type.
I think you'll have problems using Static IPs, but DHCP reserved IPs should work.
What's your current status?

Having now come across this three times over different sites I thought I would post my solution to the issue. In short Ruckus Unleashed if it gets to out of date requires a rebuild to bring it up to modern standards.
It would seem a local Ruckus specialist installer was putting in unleashed systems taking the money for maintenance and not bothering. This left sites on factory fresh software including some nasty vulnerabilities.
So for each site we had to bring in a temporary wireless system from another vendor to keep people running. Then we collected every Ruckus AP, factory reset individually and one at a time manually installed the update from a download. Once all APs were up to date the Master AP was in command again and now does update all APs in the network. We did try factory resetting and just updating the master AP but as soon as it updated it would no longer manage any other AP, I assume this is due to the version difference being to large.

This doesn't sound correct, as our QA test all previous versions ability to upgrade to current release. The upgrade procedure should only need to be run on your current Master AP, who should lead the upgrade of all other AP models. We've tested both the Online upgrade and a Local image method, and I've not had a problem in my lab swapping versions frequently.
Your installers should certainly be responsible for updating to current release firmware, sorry you didn't get expected service!

I can only comment on my 3 out of 3 experience 200.0.9.9.xxx would not receive upgrades from 200.6.10.1.310 or later.
unknown
I can confirm another secure site running on 200.0.9.9.608 which cannot be upgraded.
