vSCG Setup Wizard bootstrapping error.
unknown
When I finish the vSCG Setup Wizard I get a bootstrapping error. I tried factory defaulting and starting over but get the same thing. I'm using the steps in the Getting Started Guide. Anything I should check or do differently?

Kind of odd, but I bet you are using the same admin and enable password. Try 2 different passwords.

I tried 2 different passwords and got the same result.

What Hypervisor and what version are you running?
Do you have the minimum required resources?
Min CPU: 2 core
Min Memory: 5 GB
Min HD space: 100 GB
unknown
ESXi 5.1 update 2
CPU: 2 sockets, 2 cores per socket
Memory: 8GB (memory usage is at 15 out of 32 GB )
HD: 200 GB thin provisioned
I've tried 1 interface and 3 interface.
One thing I've noticed is that the wizard spends a lot of time on the 'checking cluster name' step - don't know if this is normal or not. I'm using a simple cluster name of 'den'.

That looks about right.
I will work with the support tech to see what we can do. We have deployed the downloaded image quite a few times already and so far so good.
Try downloading a new image and redeploy from a fresh image. Don't pre-set any resources. All I did was have VM deploy from OVA file I downloaded and selected all the default settings, edit the NIC and remove two and powered on the system.

The support guys figured it out.
After the 'restart network' step, do not reload before going to Setup Wizard. The reload was causing the problem.
Thanks!

Hi gents,
How long should the system take during the bootstrapping process?
It is on 10% for the past 20 minutes
Please advise.. thanks
unknown
Still nothing, staying on bootstrap @ 10%
Did a factory reset, went through the steps again, without reloading system
Bootstrapping still at 10%
VMWare 5.5
vSCG...
Mem @ 4096MB
CPUs @ 4
HDD Provisioned @ 100GB - Thick Provisioned Lazy Zeroed
Any other ideas would help
Regards

Deleted the VM
Imported OVA, but changed to 200GB Thin provisioning instead
Setup the vSCG without restarting
Working!!!

Hi, I'm having the same problem and the bootstrapping still in 10%, so the 'restart network' is the problem?????

Hi Hugo,
No, the reload step is the problem....
Import the OVA
In the CLI do the setup and configure the network
restart network to continue
DO NOT reload the machine
Go to the web interface with the newly configured IP address, and continue the setup from there. Do not go back in the GUI setup, as going back may reconfigure the network and may perform a restart. Just continue the setup steps from Cluster Information
I hope it helps

Hi Jonathan,
How long does it take for the bootstrapping part? I mean it have been almost 2 hours and still on 10%, is that normal?
sid_sok
Jonathan is correct, the issue is the "reload" scg command that is causing the issue. We updated the "Getting Started" guide to reflect this.

Hey Sid, how long usually takes for the bootstrapping phase to finish??
sid_sok
I have done this about 12 times for various test and it usually only takes a few minutes. If it goes on for more than 5 minutes, something went wrong.
Can you open a support ticket? if so I will go ahead and grab the case and will see what I can do to help.
Sid
