Change IP of AP's Question
unknown
7731 Outdoor AP's. If i need to change the IP address of the AP's, will it effect the ZoneDirector 1100? Do i need to change the ZoneDirector also? As i will be changing the AP's to a different Subnet.
Thanks

7731 is a bridge that is not controlled by the ZD. If you are talking about outdoor APs then you need to make sure APs and ZD have L3 connectivity. You can change subnets, but different subnets must not be isolated amongst each other.
Please clarify what you have and what you want to do and achieve, so we can assist better.

Thanks for the reply,
So, i have 1x ZD 1100, and 2x 7731 Outdoors AP's.
I was originally going to buy a 2nd pair of 7731 to double the bandwidth, but l changed my design.
So, the building with the non-bridge AP is being upgraded, as in physically changing the building. So a new network design is needed, and IP addressing will be different. So i will need to change both the AP's IP address, say 10.10.200.1/24 & 10.10.200.2/24 (i might be able to go to maybe /29?). The ZD will end up on a different IP, keeping on the original addressing of one building.
Static Routes may be needed on each side, so communication will work between both buildings.

Are you 100% sure you have 7731s?
Are you using those to just link buildings together or make a WLAN network?
unknown
The manual says Ruckus Wireless ZoneFlex 7731 802.11n Point to Point wireless bridge. I logged in to make sure the manual matches, and says the same model.
So, yes , i am 100% sure.
It is used on our roof, to join our 2nd building, close by. one on each roof.
Just to link them together.

Sory for asking these questions but, are you trying to connect 7731s to the ZD?
unknown
Well, i am guessing it was already setup using the ZD. It was setup by a 3rd party contractor in the past, all i did was get it on the roof (both with help) and turn on.
I have all passwords to get into. When i login, it looks far more complex than any wifi device i have worked with.

1. 7731 could never have been setup via ZD.
2. RW has one of the easiest set-ups out there. It's WiFi that's complex
Since we know all this. You won't be needing a ZD. The bridge will work by it self so go ahead and change the IPs.
The ZD puzzles me still. I don't know why it has been installed in the first place. Are you sure there are no indoor APs installed somewhere?
unknown
We only had 1x ZD and 2x 7731's, ruckus equipment for about 1 year. We do have 2 other cheap indoor AP's around, but i am looking at getting rid of them in shortly. Both indoor cheap AP's are setup independent.
I did just buy 1x indoor 7321 about 2 weeks ago, so i can start replacing the cheap ones. I set it up independent. I tried and failed to join it to the ZD, but could not understand the ZD. The manual was too complex, so i just gave up, and ignored it.
It seems to work by itself OK.
I will be changing the IP's of the bridge in Jan.

Kudos to the marketing guy that sold you a ZD and 2 7731s. Our marketing guy is one of the best and even he couldn't pull that one off.
You'll get much more out of your WLAN system if you connect the AP to the ZD. It couldn't be easier.
If you want I can help over some RDP. I'll maybe have some time later in the week.
unknown
So the ZD wasn't needed with the bridge So, we were screwed over!
I wont be using that IT contracting company again!
The original bill was big, but just paid it, no questions.
Greed, part of the GFC of 2008.
Its in the past, so with this ZD 1100, can it work with the 7321 indoor AP i got a few weeks ago? as i only have 1 of these.

Yes, and you will have more features available (vs standalone) as a result.
unknown
Just check the FW on the ZD. If it's too old, your 7321 won't connect.
ZD MUST have 9.4 or higher.
unknown
They can't even blame it on a mistake. You just can't make one like this.

Thanks for the good news and bad news guys.

BTW – to get an upgrade for your ZD, just register that new 7321 on our support website at
https://support.ruckuswireless.com/re...
– If it's in the software warranty window (offically 90-days from when we ship, but we fudge that a bit) that will trigger your account for a temporary upgrade to Premium status and will allow you to download the ZD upgrade.

Thanks:)
