If you plan to use it to authenticate on an 802.1x SSID using AD credentials you will need a radius server.

Hi LionTR,
If you want to authenticate users against an external Authentication server, you will need to first configure your AAA server, then point
*ZoneDirector*
to the AAA server so that requests will be passed through *
ZoneDirector*
before access is granted.
ZoneDirector supports Active Directory AAA server.
However if you are using AP in stand alone mode, you can configure a 802.1x WLAN mapped to a radius server .
Thanks
