ICX7150-C12P Not booting.

Hello, I have a ICX7150-C12P that will not boot,

Ive tried the tutorials here, /kb/articles/4-fixing-ruckus-switch-with-an-amber-orange-light-on-syst-green-light-on-pwr-no-lights-on-aps
But this does not fix it I've done the reset button multiple times and enter console via serial.

When entering the console I just get this.

Booted from partition 1
DRAM: DDR PHY not power up
Sometimes this
DRAM: VDL calibration failed!!! (Timeout)

We have been having issues with Ruckus ICX 7150-C12P for several weeks. It is no longer working after power courage. POE not getting power. But the issue is not resolved yet. We need help

I have lived in the Lennar home since it was built. Recently started having issues with the switch providing intermittent internet. I have Eero 6 pro router provided by ISP Frontier. I have Eero 6 pros providing wifi service throughout house and they are all working fine. I only need the switch to provide Ethernet service. When I test the Ethernet lines using laptop they work but the webpages are delayed before loading and my ps5 is timing out. Attached are pictures of switch as well as error message and putty screenshots. Please advise on next steps. The r510 aps are currently not plugged in to router and not being used.

Recently my AP's started to periodically lose power. After doing some troubleshooting I noticed that when the ports on my switch were lit, the AP's worked. If not, the AP's would not work. Rebooting the switch would restore the AP's for a limited amount of time. One AP would restore quicker than the other but eventually they both would go out. I was able to log into the switch and see that the software has not been updated since we moved into our home in 2017. I don't know if this could be causing the problem. I also notice all admin states were on, but I do see a low voltage alert on the ports. I have been rebooting the switch for several days now, but the AP's won't restore. The port lights would blink sometimes when they were trying to boot up, but no lights at all now on the ports. All other ethernet cables on the switch are working fine. I have tried switching the ports the AP's are plugged into, but still get no power.

Hello ICX7150-C12P switch has failed. Despite numerous attempts to troubleshoot the issue using guidance from this forum and various online resources, the device appears to be non-operational. It will not even power on, no lights, I've tried different power, cables. It sounds like the power supply is clicking. I've tried rebooting and the reset buttons. I have been in touch with a representative via chat and provided the serial number as requested. I was advised to post here for administrative approval. Could you kindly inform me about the subsequent steps in the RMA process? Thank you, and I hope you have a splendid day.

ICX7150 - c12P fails to boot after Power Trip - Tried recovering but still failing.

Hi Admin,

My ICX7150 switch failed with SYST amber light on. Tried updating primary, secondary and uboot. Post update when I do the reset, I continue to get the below message on the console. Pls help me.

The upgrade process is this one

"The upgrade path is 08.0.70 or prior -> 08.0.80f (non-UFI) –> target release (UFI)”

Of course, there are some scenarios where it may change a bit like this one:

Note: If you are upgrading an ICX switch for the first time from a version earlier than FastIron 08.0.95, RUCKUS recommends that you upgrade to FastIron 08.0.95d as the intermediate version and then upgrade to FastIron 09.0.10a or later. This step is required to ensure that the FPGA version is compatible with the target release.

Unable to boot after power outage. Management port not responding. Ping failed; Is not Alive

Hello,

Experienced a brief power outage today, 4/24, around 3:45 PM PDT. Since then the RUCKUS switch (ICX7150-C12P) has been unable to reboot. APs are also down without any lights.

I attempted to perform a software recovery by following the instructions closely from the following post/URL: RUCKUS Forums - How to perform a Software recovery on an ICX7150 s... - CommScope RUCKUS Community Forums (ruckuswireless.com)

When I reached the step to ping 192.168.0.2, I received a "ping failed; host 192.168.0.2 is not alive." I went back and double-checked each step to ensure I did not make a mistake. I also tried using different equipment (laptop/desktop, ethernet cable, etc.) but to no success.

In researching my issue, I was able to find another community's member's post below and it appears I am running into the same issue and that a possible RMA may be required.

These applications are useful if you want to access CLI of networks devices, such as Ruckus devices.

Here is where you can download:

1-For SSH or Telnet session must know the IP address of the network devices

What depends on whether we use ssh or telnet?

This is determined by the current configuration of the device

SSH: Since ssh is a secure connection is going to ask us for a username and password

2-The Serial option is used for physical access with a console cable directly connected to the network device.

Note: Mobaxterm is a putty-like tool with a slightly different interface.

For MacOS system like like MacBook we can access from the terminal of the device without having to install a tool.

For Telnet access:

nc ‘IP of the device’ 23

For ssh Access:

ssh ‘username’@’IP of the device’

Note: if access to ssh does not work tried the following ssh-keygen -R 'ip address of the device' this generates a public key pair for use when authenticating with a remote server.

How to Fix Routing code issues on Lennar Home users

A common Lennar environment is a router and one or more APs connected to the ICX-7150, this can include multiple smart devices connected through cable or Wi-Fi.

Some symptoms when the ICX 7150-c12p is running Routing code:

Smart devices like Amazon's Alexa not working as intended.
Unleashed dashboard sometimes not showing as "Connected" on the Internet tab.

Websites not loading.
Several connectivity issues.

This can happen for a multitude of reasons: Maybe the boot preference was not set when configuring the device, maybe the device was never configured and the routing code was set on the primary flash or maybe the images got corrupted after a power outage or a power spike, random reboot, among other possible causes.

1- To fix this, the switch must be accessed via console/telnet or ssh

Default passwords: username: super password:sp-admin or try to use the same as the same to log in unleashed dashboard or mobile app

2-Once we are log in into the switch, we should see the next prompt

Where it immediately tells us that the routing code is running.

3- Must go to Privilege mode

ICX7150-C12 Router>enable 'then Hit Enter to accept the command'

4-Run a ‘show version’ to confirm which code is running your ICX 7150-c12p

as we can see in the initial of the output, SPR08080f is being executed, where the third letter means that the switch is executing the routing code.

Important Note

In Lennar homes, the switch must run SPS (switching) and not SPR (routing) code

5-Once the information is confirmed from the ‘show version’ we should run a show flash

-Show flash

Here we can see that both SPS is installed in the primary image and SPR is installed in the secondary on the switch.

Here to prevent this problem in the future is to run a ‘copy flash flash secondary’ What this is going to do this command is to copy the primary image in to the secondary image, eliminating the SPR image.

Note: if your switching code is in the secondary code we must execute ‘copy flash flash primary’

Once the command is executed is going to re-flash the images:

Note:also you can force the switch to boot up in a specific image:

-Reload

8-we should get access to the switch again

Here we see that the switch is running the correct code ‘switching ‘

go to the privileged mode and confirm with a show version that the switch is finally running SPS code

-Enable ‘go to privilege mode’

-Show version ‘Check actual version ‘

Note: This may be a fix for some users, sometimes the flashes get corrupted, and you need to proceed with an upgrade to the same version or later.

Many times, the copy flash flash does not work properly, and we must run it more than 1 time or reboot the switch and run it.

How to Upgrade a RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch using a USB flash drive

This article provides a step-by-step guide on upgrading a switch from a non-UFI version to the recommended 08.0.95g UFI version using a USB Flash Drive and PuTTY Applications.

Note: The USB flash drive must be formatted in FAT32 and should be a Standard Type-A USB.

For detailed instructions on how to format the drive on Windows and macOS systems, please refer to the following guide:

Ensure the USB drive is formatted to FAT32 and is a standard USB.

Steps to upgrade:

A. Initial version upgrade:

When upgrading from a non-UFI version, we must first upgrade to the initial version (08.0.80f) before proceeding to the recommended version (08.0.95g).

The Upgrade path would be: Non-UFI version before 08.0.80f version>>08.0.80f>>08.0.95g

1. Download and extract/unzip the initial version 08.0.80f

2. Navigate to the ICX 7150 > Boot directory and copy the mnz10114.bin file.

3. Navigate to the ICX 7150>Images folder and copy SPS08080f.bin

B. Download 08.0.95g version images:

1. Log in to the RUCKUS Support Downloads page .

2. Select RUCKUS ICX7150 Campus Switches from the ‘Choose A Product’ menu.

3. Select 08.0 from the Version menu.

4. Select RUCKUS ICX FastIron 08.0.95g (GA) Software Release (.zip).

5. Click Download software.

6. Unzip the downloaded file and extract all contents.

7. Navigate to the ICX 7150 > Images folder and copy SPS08095gufi.bin and paste in the same folder we created previously.

8. Create a new folder named Upgrade and copy the following files into it: mnz10114.bin, SPS08080f.bin, and SPS08095gufi.bin.

C. Connect the USB drive to the RUCKUS ICX-7150 Switch

Insert the USB drive into the designated USB port on the ICX-7150 switch. (Figure 11)

D. Accessing the Switch

1. Connect to the switch using SSH, Telnet, or a console connection.

2. Enter the 'enable’ command to switch to User EXEC mode:

E. Verify USB Recognition

1. Use the 'mount disk0' command to ensure the Switch recognizes the USB.

2. Use the 'show files disk0' command to view the contents of the USB drive.

F. Upgrade to Intermediate version

Note: The switch has two flash storage partitions, Primary and Secondary.

'show flash' command will show the codes installed on both partitions of the switch.

'show version' command will display the actual version on the switch.

1. Upgrade the bootrom using the command “copy disk0 flash mnz10114.bin bootrom”

2. Upgrade to intermediate version 8080f using the command “copy disk0 flash SPS08080f.bin secondary” (Can install in both primary and secondary partitions)

3.Use the command "show flash" to check if it was installed correctly in the right partition.

4. Use the command “boot system flash secondary yes” to boot the Switch from the secondary partition to make sure the image was installed correctly.

5. Use the 'show version' command to check the current version once the boot process is complete and the version should be 08.0.80f

G. Upgrade to recommended version

1. Use the command “copy disk0 flash SPS08095gufi.bin secondary” to copy from intermediate 08.0.80f to recommended version 08.0.95g.

2. Use the command “boot system flash secondary yes” to boot from the secondary partition once the copy is complete.

3. Use the 'show version' command to check the current version once the boot process is complete and the version should be 08.0.95g

H. Synchronize the partitions:

For best results, we recommend having both partitions on the same version. 

1. Use the command “copy flash flash primary” to re-flash from Secondary to Primary.

The RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch is now upgraded to the recommended version 08.0.95g.
