Captive portal redirection issue

Client connected to the SSID, gets the DHCP config but no captive portal redirection for the username/password, hence no internet access. Manually typing the url of the captive portal/ZD works fine.

Any ideas?

Check the DNS on that client VLAN...  can you do an 'nslookup www.yahoo.com' from a command prompt?

Hi Michael,

Thank you for your reply. A question: Are you able to use DNS when actually not authenticated to the network? Please see below a PCAP from the client side for the google.co.uk request. I am going to test this tomorrow again by clearing DNS cache on the client machine and post new results

Hi Michael,

Steps l have done:

1) Connected to the SSID
2) open the web-browser, waiting for the redirection page ( timing out)
3) Frome the client side using nslookup checking the DNS resolution for the cisco.com and captive portal url page, getting the response. Please seeattached screenshots.
4) Typing URL or IP address of the captive portal (10.0.0.253) manually to the browser, getting a response where we can put username/password.
5) Doing so successfully authenticated and able to use the Internet.
