Ruckus APs not working

Kanakaboy92
New Contributor

Hello,

I woke up today to my ruckus APs not broadcasting their SSIDs. After some research I was thinking maybe they upgraded their firmware overnight and the new unleashed firmware may require the ICX7150 to be on newer firmware as well. I updated the switch to 8.0.95B from 8.0.90B, but the three APs still wouldn’t connect.
They’re only online intermittently which is making it difficult to diagnose the issue.
One of the APs, when online, shows “building the unleashed network” on the web interface. All three APs have static IPs assigned by the router (ubiquity ER-4).

Any direction in getting these APs back online (ideally with their current configuration as I run multiple VLANs) would be very appreciated.

Thank you

Hi @Kanakaboy92

Greetings!!!

Thank you for contacting RUCKUS Lennar Home Community.

Hope you are doing well!!!

Thank you for the information you shared.

As per the case description, I could understand that your RUCKUS device setup is not working. And Access Points are not broadcasting the Wi-Fi SSIDs.

Could you please let us know the answers to the below queries to assist you better?

1. Was there any power outage/spike before you started facing this issue?

2. On your switch while it's plugged into the outlet, do you see any lights on? (Amber or green) Please let us know which lights are on. (Please refer to the below picture and share a picture of the same, showing the light status and the FULL Switch panel cable connections to the Switch ports)

3. Is your Internet Connection from the Internet Service Provider (ISP) stable and working? (You could check this by connecting to your local router Wi-Fi or from an ethernet cable from Router to a laptop/PC).

4. As you mentioned you have 3 APs connected to your RUCKUS ICX Switch. Could you please let me know the light status on ALL the Access Points? Any of these lights are on (Please refer to the below picture and share a picture of the same)

5. Do you have CLI Access to your RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch?

Please help us with pictures of your ICX-7150-C12P Switch showing the status of the lights and cable connections to the Switch ports. Also, light the status of Access Points.

Before uploading the photos please log in to the RUCKUS account and you can upload the image.

Please let us know the answers to ALL the above queries or let us know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again for your patience.

Best regards,

Imran Sanadi

Hi Imran,

thank you for replying so quickly.

1. There should not have been any power outage since my whole house is backed up on a battery, and would have been on battery power at the time.
2. Here is the image of my switch

IMG_4260.jpeg

3. My internet connection appears to be fine, in fact, wired devices seem to be working fine as well.

4. The Upstairs AP has a green flashing power light

IMG_4261.jpeg

The Downstairs AP has solid power and control lights

IMG_4262.jpeg

the Office AP has a flashing green power light, but sometimes is solid red.

 5. I do have CLI access to the ICX7150 switch

Thank you

Hi @Kanakaboy92

Thank you for the response and the detailed information.

May I know to which port of the Switch your ISP (Internet Service Provider) Router/Modem-Router combo device’s ethernet cable is connected to? Could you please show it in a picture?

As you have CLI access, could you please perform the below commands and share their outputs?

If you can access the Command line should look like this:

ICX7150-C12 Router> OR

ICX7150-C12 Switch>

Please enter the below commands once you log in to CLI and share the output.

Note: Hit Enter to accept each command

enable

show version

show flash

show inline power
show interface brief

Please share the output of the above commands or share the screenshots if stuck at any step or error (if any) and let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again for your patience.

Hi Imran,

In the previously attached photo of the switch, my router is the orange cable plugged into interface 1/1/1

The three APs are plugged into 1/1/2, 1/1/3 and 1/1/4

Please see the following for the console output:

Alexiss-MacBook-Pro:~ alexismorris$ ls /dev/cu.*
/dev/cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port /dev/cu._A-EA82 /dev/cu.usbserial-01F9107F
