Access-Points have become unstable

elmoritz
New Contributor

We recently experienced a brief power outage in our community, and since then, the Ruckus access points have become unstable. Despite all the access points showing green lights, occasionally the 5Mhz light will be yellow, we are encountering frequent internet interruptions and slow speeds. I have all WAN connections connected as suggested in other posts. On the RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P switch all status lights are green except USB is yellow.

When I logged into the switch I wasn't able to run all cmds suggested in other posts:

I also logged into the Ruckus Dashboard and see this:

I am not able to access this IP address: 192.168.0.117 via  browser, telnet, ssh and does not appear in "Advance IP Scanner" list of IP addresses.

I believe I found the version information here:

Appreciate your assistance on this,

Hi @elmoritz

Based on the information you have shared it seems like the internet issue is stable while you are connecting to the ISP router, but the issue persists while you are connecting to the access points or the switch, it looks like your Switch (ICX7150 Switch) may be booting from the secondary partition ( Note: Secondary partition contains the routing code)  which is causing the bad connectivity issues.

Note:  if you have access to the Unleashed Dashboard and the Switch can be seen from there, it may look like the following image, ICX7150-C12-Router instead of ICX7150-C12-Switch, now before starting the steps of the guide, I will advise you to cable the computer directly to the Switch, since you will have a better connectivity than if you connect via wireless.

After fixing the issue of the Switch booting from the wrong partition, please perform an upgrade to the code 08095g UFI and upgrade both partitions primary and secondary with the switching code file named SPS08095gufi.bin, take into consideration that is the Switch is running a code lower than 08080 you need to upgrade twice, from the code you are to 08080f and then the recommended code 08095g UFI.

Hi @elmoritz

Thanks for your response,

The recommended and latest version is 08095g. So it is better to upgrade the switch to the latest version to avoid any issues in future.

Please let us know if you have any queries in this regard.

Jayavidhya,

I tried to use the tftp approach, however it looks like the last parameter 'bootrom' isn't valid.  I replaced 'bootrom' with '?' to get the list of options, but not sure which to use.

Hi @elmoritz

Please upgrade the switch by using the following commands.

copy tftp flash 192.168.1.3 SPR08095gufi.bin primary

copy tftp flash 192.168.1.3 SPR08095gufi.bin secondary

Show flash  (ensure that you have the new flash code)

Write memory

Reload

Once you are done with the above commands please try to reboot your router. After the update the switch will take a while to start up so wait for few minutes as you switch got upgraded.

Please let us know if you have any queries in this regard.

Jayavidhya,

Thanks for the response.  One clarification with your response of "copy tftp flash 192.168.1.3 SPR08095gufi.bin ...", should the file be SPS08095gufi.bin and not "SPR08095gufi.bin" ?
I thought Lennar Ruckus switch needs SPS and not SPR images.

Eric

Hi @elmoritz

Thanks for your response,

Please upgrade the code 08095g UFI using the switching code in both partitions using the commands mentioned below.

copy tftp flash 192.168.1.3 SPS08095gufi.bin primary

copy tftp flash 192.168.1.3 SPS08095gufi.bin secondary

Show flash  (ensure that you have the new flash code)

Write memory

Reload

Please let us know if you have any queries in this regard.
