7150-C12P Firmware stuck on 08.0.60T211

I recently reconfigured my ICX 7150-C12P, only to realize my 7150 is stuck on firmware from 2017 (Version 08.0.60T211) on both of my partitions. I try to use the online upgrade function on the Ruckus Unleashed, but it says that I currently have the most up-to-date firmware when I know that is not true. If I could get guidance on which firmware is compatible and stable with my switch and how to install the software. Thank you!

Hi @imcobra

Please follow the below steps explaining the Upgrade process.

The recommended stable version is 8095g (08.0.95g)

The Upgrade path must be 8061 to 8080f non-UFI to 8095g  UFI OR 8095j UFI
>You will have to download 2 files (8080 and 8095) and do the process 2 times as well.
*NOTE*

*For versions 8080 you will find a file that is named Boot. There you will find the boot code and it should be uploaded before the image.

*For UFI versions, the boot code is embedded in the image so there is no need to upload the boot from the file.
*Please remember to use the image that says SPS

(PLEASE NOTE: Use 08095g patch in place of 80xx as explained in the guide)

Below are the options or methods to perform the Upgrade on the switch: You could choose any one of these.

1st Option:In this option, we will use a pen drive or USB flash drive in which we move the files to the pen drive and connect it to the Switch then through CLI we execute the commands to upgrade the Switch using the following guide as a reference:

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-Upgrade-a-Switch-ICX-...

2nd Option:

  1. The following guide is an example of an upgrade via TFTP server, by using an application (FREE) to send files or upload remote files to a device, in our case, we will use it to update a new version to the Switch, basically it will send the image version remotely from the computer to the switch.

3rd Option:

  1. In this option we Upgrade the Switch from the Web Interface (GUI) of switch.

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-perform-an-Upgrade-vi...

Try to access your switch from a web browser by pasting the below URL in http or https form whichever that works.

https://0.0.0.0 or http://0.0.0.0 (IP address of Switch. 0.0.0.0 is just as an example)

I would suggest you follow the 1st or  2nd option since are the easier ones

Please let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Hi there,

Thank you for your prompt reply. I have gotten to the point of trying to mount my external USB to the switch with 8080f on the USB; however, every time I try to mount disk0 I get an error message "External USB not present."

I've researched about trying to do TFTP; however, I am on Macbook M2, and most guidance is for Windows using Putty. If you could kindly advise me on moving forward from here, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi @imcobra

You need FAT32 format pendrive for flash drive option for the USB, please check the the USB is using that format.

Now for the upgrade the unit with a MAC please check the following:

How to remotely access to 'ICX 7150-12P'

Please refer to the video below for TFTP configuration on MAC.

Hi there,

When doing the 3rd option of using the GUI Web management interface and MacBook, would I follow the video you linked for the TFTP configuration on Mac instead of downloading the FTFPD64 application?

If you have a video/instructions for specifically upgrading via Web Management and Macbook, I'd greatly appreciate it. I tried using the USB method; however, the switch doesn't recognize the USB, regardless of being formatted correctly, and the second method confused me. Thank you
