Switch Disconnected After Power Outage

Hello,

I've had my Ruckus setup for two years without issues, and have now experienced one after a power outage. The network switch (ICX 7150-C12P) is showing as disconnected even though lights are all on. Also, whenever I connect to the switch directly or the WAPs connected to it, I cannot load anything. 

Is there anything I can do to restore it to its original working state?

Thank you for the response and the information you shared.

As we could see from the picture you shared, that on your ICX-7150-C12P Switch, the SYST and PWR lights are steady green, which means the lights are in a normal state.

Since the switch is in the normal state you can take Console access to the switch in order to verify, if the switch is able to connect properly to Access Points or if it has a ‘Routing Code’ issue which happens due to power outages most of the times, this is a known issue for Lennar home users.

An identifier of this problem is that it comes out as Switch-Router in the unleashed dashboard.

There we are going to see 2 important things the

-MAC address: Physical address of the device this never changes

- An IP address is a unique address (logical) that identifies a device on the internet or a local network like your home (this can change and may not be the same as the one shown on the dashboard)

Please follow the below steps:

1. To fix this issue, we must identify the ‘current’ IP address assigned by your local router to the switch ICX-7150-C12P

I will leave you a guide on how to perform an IP scanner on your local network to identify the switch IP address very easily.

2. Once we identify the IP address of the switch proceed to access remotely to the device “Command Line”

If you can access the Command line should look like this:

ICX7150-C12 Router>

3. Here is a quick guide for understanding how to fix the 'routing code issue' however, you only need to run the following commands once you are on the command line 'CLI' 

Note: Hit Enter to accept each command 

enable

show version

copy flash flash secondary 

boot system flash secondary yes 

 

(Please share the output screenshot of the ‘show version’ command)

Example:

ICX7150-24P Router>enable (hit enter to accept the command) 
ICX7150-24P Router#copy flash flash secondary (hit enter to accept the command and wait: until the flash finished) 
ICX7150-24P Router#boot system flash secondary yes (hit enter to accept the command: the switch will reboot)

4. If access via IP address is not possible here is a guide on how to access to the Switch via console (cable access between your PC to the ICX 7150-C12P) in this case we need a USB type C to USB standard or Console cable Rj45 to USB.

Once you are logged in to the ICX-7150-C12P please follow up the same steps that are on point '3'

Thank you for the response and the information you shared.

May you could try to reboot your ISP router and try to find the IP Address of the Switch by IP Scanner?

If you are unable to find the IP Address of the Switch, you can try to take the console access to the Switch as mentioned in the previous post (Point Number 4).

And please note the information that is displayed on the dashboard is not always accurate like the IP address, which can change or be different. Since the switch is not in a connected state and the assigned IP Address may be different by an ISP Router.

I used the MAC address to look for the device, and that doesnt change, right? In any case, I was looking at the next steps (connecting via console) and they seem to be way over my head, as I am not in the tech field. So before I go ahead and attempt it, let me ask this again. Do you think I need to go through these steps to get the switch to stop saying disconnected? When I switched the port that I plug my ISP cable into, everything started working. No intermittent/slow connection, no app issues. Nothing of the sort. 

Can you comment on that please? I had mentioned it a few msgs ago but it seems you missed it.

Thank you for the response.

We use the IP Address to get the CLI Access (SSH,Telnet etc.,) to the Switch and Not a MAC Address.

And as mentioned in the previous posts the switch is in the normal state you can take Console or CLI access to the switch in order to verify, if the switch is able to connect properly to Access Points or if it has a ‘Routing Code’ issue which happens due to power outages most of the times, this is a known issue for Lennar home users.

As we have seen this issue in some cases when the Switch is running on the 'Routing Code'. To verify the same, we have to confirm by following the troubleshooting process as described in the previous posts.

Sanadi,

I went ahead and connected using a USB C cable (wasnt as difficult as first thought to be) and followed the instructions for setting it up to use with PuTTY. However, when I clicked Open to start the session, it did not show any ICP-7150 name like I was expecting based on the guides. It showed a box as if it is ready to accept a command.
