Ruckus ICX7150_C12 having problems booting up

Rose_Jon
New Contributor II

I am unable to get this switch to boot up.  I followed all of the instructions I was given to update and save the image and boot files and I completed a reset command the switch failed to boot.

The console displayed the following test after the reset command.

NAND read: device 0 offset 0x4000000, size 0x2000000

3 ecc_errors after reading  5efa000:5efbc00

Iproc_nand_read_page returned 2

NAND read from offset 4000000 failed -22

 0 bytes read: ERROR

## Loading kernel from FIT Image at 7000200 …

Bad FIT kernel image format !

ERROR : can’t get kernel image !

ICX7150-Boot>

The Switch displays a green PWR and an amber SYST light on the front panel.  None of the 12 network ports seem to be in working condition.  I tried to reply to your response to my original request for help but that reply was marked as SPAM and not accepted.

Please help me get this switch back working

I downloaded the 0809k firmware again and extracted the boot and image files for the ICX7150 switch.

I configured and connected the TFTP server on my PC with a CAT 6 cable from my PC to the Switch’s management port.  I am using a Cat5 to serial DB9 cable I have from Cisco connected to a serial DB9 to USB adapter connected to my laptop USB port.  I am using PuTTY to gain access to the switch’s console. .

I’m not at all sure how to supply a picture of these connections to this document.

I continued to follow the instructions and used all of the setenv commands. .  I followed the steps in the instructions and got a LIVE reply to the Ping 192.18.0.2 request I sent.  I followed on and setnv image_name , and the update_primary.

This resulted in

Updating PRIMARY image over TFTP

Load addr=0x70000000

Change GMAC speed to 1000MB

Using bcm_xgs_gmac-0 device

TFTP from server 192.168.0.2; our IP address is 192.168.0.3

Filename ‘SPS08090k.bin’.

Load address: 0x70000000

Loading:  T T  T T T T T T T T

Retry count exceeded; starting again

ICX7150-Boot>

I continued on with the Secondary image instructions and received essentially the same set of messages for that attempt.  The Boot image gave me this set of output.

Loading image to Uboot Partition 1

Change GMAC speed to 1000MB

Using bcm_xgs_gmac-0 device

TFTP from server 192.168.0.2; our IP address is 192.168.0.3

Filename ‘mnz10115.bin’

Load address 0x61007dc0

Loading:  T T  T T T T T T T T

Retry count exceeded; starting again

ICX7150-Boot>

I issued the reset command and saw a number of error messages

3 ecc_errors after reading 5efa000:5efbc00

NAND read from offset 4000000 failed -22

Bad FIT kernel image format !

ERROR: Can’t get kernel image!

ICX7150-Boot>

This is where I am now.  The switch will not function and doesn’t appear to accept the software updates.  Please help me get this switch back in working order.

Hi @Rose_Jon

I hope this message finds you well.

Thank you for your prompt response and the update.

Could you kindly provide a picture illustrating the software recovery cable connections between the RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch and the laptop?

We appreciate your continued patience and support.

Thank you once again.

It is not at all clear to me how to upload a picture to this site.
Please either provide step by step instructions on how to upload photos or a link to those instructions.
