RUCKUS Community Guidelines

Welcome to the RUCKUS Pack!

The RUCKUS Networks Community is a place to ask questions, resolve issues, learn, exchange ideas, and connect with your peers. The Pack includes a diverse range of members who are passionate about sharing and collaborating on answers, solutions, and ideas about the RUCKUS products they love. We invite you to join the conversation, and we have a few rules to guide our interactions together.

Keep It Real, Keep It Respectful

We’re advocates for any type of collaboration that is in the spirit of good fun, so long as it doesn’t hurt or offend other people. Please, no words or images that come at the expense of others. Be sensitive to the other users around you. That said, we can learn from professional critics, who teach us how to foster healthy conversation and constructive debate without attacking people personally. Let that approach guide your responses to others here, and if you're in doubt, always ask yourself the question, Would I say that to them face-to-face?

Tell It Like It Is

At RUCKUS, we value transparency, honesty, and truth. Don’t misrepresent yourself or lie about your identity or your affiliations. This community is based on the contributions of real people who put their reputations on the line. Be one of them. Ask tough questions and reward the candor of others.

Please don’t create multiple accounts to violate these guidelines, game the system, or harass and deceive other community members.

Search Before You Post

In many cases your question may have already been answered, so please use the Search box and Related content links before posting your question or comment. You may be able to contribute to an already rich discussion related to your topic.

Share the Wealth

You make this community a richer place by sharing your experience and insight. You may have the perfect answer to another member's burning question, and answering that query is how you give back to the community.

No Sales or Spam!

It’s okay to talk up the products or services you love (or sell), but only if it’s relevant to the conversation. If you post a ton of links to your website and nothing else, your posts (or signature) will be removed by a moderator.

Can You Keep a Secret---in Public?

Make sure you have the right to publish any content you post to the RUCKUS Community, and don’t violate the privacy of others. Keep in mind that this is a public forum; don’t post full names, phone numbers, addresses or other Personally Identifiable Information (PII) here. And please don’t share anything your organization wouldn’t want publicly disclosed.

It’s User-generated Content

The RUCKUS Community is a forum for informal sharing of information from all members of the Pack. RUCKUS does not guarantee that any post, reply or solution will work in any specific situation. Some posts will contain flat-out incorrect information. This is not formal product documentation, but a really quick way to get feedback on a question or idea.

Moderation

RUCKUS reserves the right to edit, move, remove posts and images, and ban users for any and all violations of these guidelines, or for any reason whatsoever. That said, we want to encourage exchange and will typically work within the threads and replies to address most issues.

Thank you for your participation in the RUCKUS Networks Community! If you have any questions or feedback on the Community Guidelines, please let us know!

Great question. A few thoughts:
Rather than think about "guidelines for a community" that are focused on the design, construction and management sides, you may want to approach this slightly differently at first:
1. Core Audience: Making sure there is a crystal clear, maniacal focus on the target audience. Who they are, what they do, where they work, what they like, how they consume media, etc.
2. Value Exchange: The best experiences are one where there is a very clear articulation of exchanging value. What's in it for the participant? Why should she share, engage, interact? When there's an obvious reason for reciprocity, the vibrancy of the experience will take off.
3. Think content, and experts: To fuel the experience, the more you facilitate linkages between target audience contributing, experts/influencers contributing, third-parties contributing, your brand contributing, and likely newly created content, the better.
