how to setup VLANs on R600 unleashed

I'm trying to setup 4 R600 Unleashed access points with multiple VLANs. The APs have been assigned static IPs on the default LAN. I will be creating 6 different SSIDs, each with its own DHCP scope if not VLAN. The clients will receive IPs via DHCP relay. Where in the Unleashed setup do I create the VLANs and associate them with their SSIDs?

I use multiple VLANs with Unleashed. When creating the “WiFi Network/WLAN,” click Show Advanced Options and specify the Access VLAN in the Priority tab (this is with version 200.2.9.13.186).

Gold star Daniel. BJ. you need your switch ports to Trunk the VLANs you assign to your SSIDs, as well as the Unleashed subnet VLAN.

Thanks for the response Daniel, I had already configured the WLAN so I needed to figure out how the GUI worked to edit it.

Michael, the Unleashed subnet VLAN is the default, untagged VLAN. Is that an issue? I plugged in the 2nd of 4 access points and it's not auto-configuring; in fact it's trying to set itself up as the master.

How are your switch ports setup? The link port from Router>Switch should be "trunked". Your Master VLAN (ex. 1) should be UNTAGGED, and then your additional VLAN's should be TAGGED on the same switch ports. Let your Master AP adopt additional WAP's on default VLAN 1 and then edit your SSID's with corresponding VLAN ids.

The 2 ports connected to the APs are both trunked, as will be the ports for the other 2. I just reset all of the SSID VLAN IDs to 1, the default untagged VLAN, and factory reset the 2nd access point.

Unfortunately, the master AP is still not detecting the 2nd AP, which has been assigned a dynamic IP on the default LAN (I can see this in my firewall/router). I configured the master AP with a static IP within the LAN scope (x.2 - x.62) but outside the DHCP range (x.2 - x.40). Could that be affecting the auto-configuration?

I'm recommending you assign tagged and untagged VLANS on your switch ports, not TRUNK. Router>(TRUNK)(untagged VLAN1, tagged VLAN2, etc)

Yes, I'm using Cisco switches. My topology is router>(Trunk)>Switch>(Trunk2, untagged VLAN1, tagged VLAN2, etc.)>WAP.

As you know the Cisco requires a port with tagged and untagged traffic to be configured as a trunk port so that's how I've configured the ports connected to the WAPs.

I've upgraded the software on the 2nd access point but it's still asking me if I'm connected to Configure.me wirelessly. When I clicked next, the page timed out...

and when refreshed the page, it took me to the static IP of the master AP and now shows 2 access points connected! Great success!

Yea, Cisco have a unique way of classifying their Trunk/Tagging and unfortunately I have little experience with Cisco. When you say the 2nd AP is trying to setup as a Master, what behavior indicates so?

It's working now, thank you very much.

I said that it was trying to setup as a master because since it didn't detect the existing AP (and vice versa), it thought it was being installed on a "virgin" network so the master setup wizard automatically deployed. It asked me to name the network, etc.

sigh. after I updated the firmware and clicked next, the 3rd AP is "Founding the Unleashed Network".

edit: I guess that means discovering and joining it, because now I'm looking at a dashboard with 3 APs connected.

Let it complete the process and you will probably get a time out or "cannot reach the server". Do you have your Master AP setup and working with an SSID? Do a factory restore on additional AP's by pressing the physical reset button on the back until the lights go out (normally about 10 seconds). Re-power and wait for Master to adopt additional AP's.

When I updated the 4th AP, after clicking Next it asked to create the network. I refreshed the page and it is now "Founding" the network. That completed, and now I'm looking at a dashboard with 4 APs

By the way, I did as you said, establishing the master and then connecting them one at a time.

Any one has an answer to this? I'm also trying to figure out how to go about this. I'm new to Ruckus AP (R510) and I don't see the option to configure the ethernet port to trunk mode. The Unleashed web interface doesn't seem to have that option. Do i need to configure that via CLI?

Not sure if you can trunk out R510 Eth ports, please spin a new thread on your question BC.
Its not the same as our R600, non-switch AP models.

R510 will trunk when connected - I have just setup 25 of them the Cisco switchport is configured as a trunk and I assigned the VLAN to drop into for each SSID in the Priority tab
