Hi,

in the VXLAN Configuration Considerations it says "VXLAN is not supported on MCT cluster devices."

Is there a hidden MLAG function? How to build a lag over two devices?

Hi Ernie

Thank you for reaching us

Could you please provide more context regarding the scenario and your specific requirements? Additionally, it would be helpful to know:

Which ICX switch models are being used in the setup

Current firmware versions running on each of those switches

This information will allow us to better understand the environment and assist you more effectively.

Thank you

Hi Chandini,

no Problem.

Spine-Leaf design. Two spines 7750 running 08.0.95rT203 and eight leaves 7550 running 10.0.20b_cd2T243.
Each Leaf is connected to each Spine. Spines are not connected directly to each other and Leaves are not connected directly to each other. OSPF in the underlay. VXLAN in the overlay. Each leaf is vxlan member and fully meshed.

I would like to connect a host via dynamic lag to two different leaves for redundancy and load balancing. I thought MCT would do the trick, but it seems there is no MCT in VXLAN. Is there another way to build a lag to multi chassis? I find no info if ruckus has something like MLAG or MC-LAG. How is the right approche in the ruckus world?

Best regards.

Edit: vxlan-riot is enabled and ve has vrf forwarding to custom vrf.

Hi Ernie

I understand what you're looking for, and while MC-LAG may not be available as a direct feature, the ICX switch family does offer similar functionality that could address your requirement.

Please refer to the guide below for more details on the relevant feature available in ICX switches:

https://docs.commscope.com/bundle/fastiron-10020-featuresupportmatrix/page/GUID-6E563B43-BF2A-49F7-A021-B92F20D9F825.html

Thank you

Hi Ernie,

Thank you very much for your follow-up — I appreciate your insight and the opportunity to clarify.

If you're exploring a solution that involves VXLAN or BGP EVPN, the following resources may help provide additional context:

https://docs.commscope.com/bundle/fi-10020-l2/page/GUID-47DBD767-3F22-4BDE-A2F9-AD883944B34D.html

https://docs.commscope.com/bundle/fastiron-10020-featuresupportmatrix/page/GUID-67452FE5-CABB-4472-9B31-9B7E56589202.html

That said, given the complexity and design-specific considerations of VXLAN and BGP EVPN deployments — especially in conjunction with MCT — I’d kindly recommend reaching out to RUCKUS Support or your RUCKUS Partner. They’ll be best equipped to assist with a tailored architecture discussion and review potential alternatives that align with your specific goals.

Thank you
