ICX Switch is Disconnected

Hi,

I moved into a Lennar home a few months ago. I'm trying to setup my network:

ATT Gateway (BGW210-700) -> OpenWrt router -> ICX 7150-C12P -> 2 R510 APs with:

- Gateway -> OpenWrt router: IP Passthrough

- OpenWrt router -> ICX 7150-C12P: ethernet from a LAN port on the router to port #1 on the ICX 7150-C12P.

- ICX 7150-C12P -> 2 R510 APs: POE

Is the above setup seems reasonable?

While Internet is available via the 2 APs, the switch is showing as disconnected on the Unleashed admin dashboard with the following message:

ICX Switch is Disconnected

MAC Address:

c0:c5:20:a9:c6:e5

IP Address:

192.168.1.127

Name:

ICX7150-C12-Router

Failed to ping ICX 192.168.1.127. Suggest checking the network.

How do I fix this so that I can use wired internet?

We would need to understand the switch code, config, etc. to really help here. In Lennar deployments our ICX switch should just be switching packets at layer 2; very basic from our standpoint. We are not using any of the fancy features that are available as an enterprise router. I would suggest opening a support case (see my signature) if you need assistance .

The console port on switches like the ICX don't connect to a standard rj45 network port. They use a special pin out. They are essentially serial ports with a different connector. You can use a USB to rj45 console cable or use a USB C january to connect to the usb c yearly 2023 calendar port which essentially functions as a built in adapter.

There is an amazing guide on serve the home for brocade switches. That is a fantastic switch and access point for home use. If you are not satisfied with the coverage and performance of the r710 especially I would be very suprised.

It turns out internet is only available intermittently either via wifi or wired. I connected to the two APs and got internet at first. Then after about 15minutes, it stops working. Same with wired.

Can you clarify how can I obtain these information: switch code, config?

Also when I login via the Unleashed app, it asks for the Switch username and password. I’ve tried the main username and password that I used to login to Manage Network but it didn’t work out. Do you have any instruction to reset the switch password?

1-As you know the IP address of the ICX 7150-C12p we can access via ssh or telent

Please downloads a software to access to the CLI of network devices such as Putty or mobaxterm

Once you installed the software log in to the switch

Some times ask you for a password

Username:super password : sp-admin

Or try the same as you used to log in in to the unelashed dashboard

2-Once we are log in into the switch, we should see the next prompt

Where it immediately tells us that the routing code is running.
3- Must go to Privilege mode

4-Run a ‘show version’ to confirm which code is running your ICX 7150-c12p

as we can see in the initial of the output, SPR08080f is being executed, where the third letter means that the switch is executing the routing code.

Important Note
In Lennar homes, the switch must run SPS (switching) and not SPR (routing) code
5-Once the information is confirmed from the ‘show version’ we should run a show flash
-Show flash

Here to prevent this problem in the future is to run a ‘copy flash flash secondary’ What this is going to do this command is to copy the primary image to the secondary image, eliminating the SPR image.

Note: if your switching code is in the secondary code we must execute ‘copy flash flash primary’

- ICX7150-C12 Router#copy flash flash ‘primary or secondary’

secondary Copy primary to secondary

Once the command is executed is going to re-flash the images:

Unfortunately I don't know the IP of the switch. I set that IP 192.168.1.127 hoping that it's up but it doesn't seem to work.

I guess the only option now is serial?

Idk why my replied was done like multiples times.

-You can check on your router that there is a tab which is most often called 'client devices' to check the IP addresses that the router has been leased to.

-You can downloads an IP scanner : https://www.advanced-ip-scanner.com/

-As you mentioned you can access to the switch via console

-Some times a hard reboot is needed to start seeing the IP address of the switch
