Why can't I enable multicast on ICX 7250

We are using the ICX 7250 switch in combination with data diodes and for that reason we need multicast to be enabled. But when I enable the multicast via the web interface of the ICX 7250, it disables itself after applying. Is there a trick or firmware update needed ?

Hi Sven,

Are you doing L2 Multicast ( Igmp snooping) or L3 Multicast (PIM, IGMP/MLD) ?

Please post 'show version' o/p from the switch here.

We are doing plane multicast. Since the data has to go through a data diode, IGMP snooping needs to be disabled. I will check on the version.

Hi Jijo,

We installed another firmware (08.0.30h) and by doing this we have the multicast working.(The picture I did sent was from the other switch, my bad, the one not working had 08.0.30r). I have no idea what the difference between the 'h' and 'r' version is.

The reason for installing the 'h' version is that we have other switches with this firmware version that worked with multicast.
I do not know if you can mix different firmware versions within a network.

But now we are encountering the next issue.
It deals with VLANs in combination with multicast. (we don't have this working yet, but have confidence that this one will be solved too).
My colleague is already in contact with Ruckus to solve this one.

Hi Sven,

Glad to hear that. 8030 code branch is restricted in terms of bug fix and recommended software target path for ICX 7K series is 8070, 8070g is the latest hence the recommendation.
