Printer in a client isolation SSID

How can I make a client to printing, both client and printer in the same SSID connected via wireless, but with client isolation? I whitelisted the printer's MAC address, but that does not work. What am I missing? I want to keep the client isolation on the SSID.

Thank you for contacting Ruckus Support.

To allow a client to print while both the client and the printer are connected to the same SSID with client isolation enabled, please make sure the printer’s MAC and IP addresses are correctly added to the whitelist. Follow these steps to configure the client isolation whitelist:

Go to Wi-Fi Networks > Advanced Options > Others.
Under Wireless Client Isolation, enable both options:
- Isolate wireless client traffic from other clients on the same AP.
- Isolate wireless client traffic from all hosts on the same VLAN/subnet.
Click Create Whitelist.
Enter a name and optional description for the whitelist.
Under Rules, click Create New to add each device:
- Description: Description of the device.
- MAC Address: Device’s MAC address.
- IPv4 Address: Enter the device’s IP address.
Click Save to apply the rule.

Ensure that both the MAC and IP addresses of the printer are correctly entered. This will allow the client to communicate with the printer while maintaining isolation on the SSID.

Note: If the printer uses dynamic IP, consider assigning it a static IP to ensure reliable access through the isolation whitelist

I was using only the MAC address, and that was not working. What is the difference between adding only the MAC address to the whitelist vs adding both MAC and IP? Can you explain this based on the layer 2 and 3 OSI model?
