R550 connects to SZ but does not upgrade firmware

Hi there

I'm trying to setup a brand new AP R550 with SmartZone. The AP finds SZ IP (192.168.216.11) via DNS:

The AP is visible in SmartZone WebGUI, showing old firmware (114.x). Under General/Status Summary I can see the "Configuration Status" as "New Configuration", however, status does not change nor does the AP download anything. I've also checked available licenses, there are enough left.

This worked for the last APs I set up the same way, but I cannot explain why it doesn't work anymore. Did I miss something?

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

Please follow below steps and check if this works:

Create a new Zone specifically for this AP for onboarding.(ex Zone R550)
Set the zone on the latest available AP Version( which is supported by R550)
Create an AP Registration rule using IP address or Subnet.
Factory reset the AP ( CLI command :set factory-reset
Reboot the AP. ( CLI command : reboot)
Login back to the CLI and configure the AP to contact Controller : CLI : set scg ip <IP of controller>
When AP connects to the controller, as per registration rule, it should hit the New created zone and take the firmware from the Zone.
Once AP download the AP image from the zone and is stable, we can move it to the desired zone.

If this is still not working, I would request you to create a case with TAC to investigate this further.

I've followed your instructions and set up everything as suggested, but to no avail. So I opened a case with Ruckus.

Solution in the end was restarting all services on the SmartZone controller:

Wait for (Cassandra,Communicator,Core,Courier,Mosquitto,NginX,RabbitMQ,ScgUniversalExporter,Switchm) up. Wait for (Communicator,Core,Courier,Mosquitto,NginX,RabbitMQ,ScgUniversalExporter,Switchm) up. Wait for (Communicator,Core,Courier,Mosquitto,NginX,ScgUniversalExporter,Switchm) up. Wait for (Core,Mosquitto,ScgUniversalExporter) up. Wait for (Core,Mosquitto,ScgUniversalExporter) up. Wait for (Core,ScgUniversalExporter) up. Wait for (Core) up. All services are up. Successful operation

Afterwards, the AP got the new firmware and configuration.
