Refer the detailed info below.

Session Timeout: Set a time limit (in minutes) after which users will be disconnected from the portal and will be required to log on again.

Grace Period: Set the time period (in minutes) during which disconnected users are allowed access to the portal without having to log on again.

Definition

Session timeout is how long the client can access the Internet via WLAN after login, and cannot be disabled.

When client logins via portal, AP gets the session start time from SCG and counts session expiration time.

AP will disconnect client and client will be required to login again if session timeout period is reached.

For Example: Client logins to portal at 9AM. Session timeout is 1440 minutes. They will be disconnected at 9 AM on next day
The client needs to login again after it reconnects to AP.

Grace Period information: If grace period is set for 480 mins If client disconnects from AP at 2PM and reconnects to WLAN after 3 PM, they don't need to login again.
They do not need to login again if they reconnect to AP before the end of the (1 minute) Grace Period, or 5 PM

Session timeout cannot be disabled. Can you increase its limit to 100 days? Currently, the 10 day limit is too short

Currently 14400 minutes (10 days) is the max value which can be configured for Session Timeout.

Hi @cangqingse
Session Timeout will disconnect the user from the portal and will be required to log on again once the session timer expires.

However, if the user connects in the morning (Session starts) and disconnects in the evening (goes back to home), later if he comes back on the 2nd day morning and connects, the Session timer will restart from 0 instead of resuming to Day 2.

With this I believe the Session timer will not be a problem unless the user is connected Actively and running straight for 10 days.

This doesn't seem accurate for my version:

Virtual SmartZone High Scale 6.1.0.0.935

Session timeout: 120 minutes.

A user accesses the Wi-Fi at 1:00 PM and enters the voucher (guest access password).

The user leaves at 1:05 PM and returns at 2:00 PM.

Ruckus requests the voucher/password again at 3:00 PM (120 minutes after 1:00 PM). According to your description, it should occur at 4:00 PM.

So, contrary to what's described, after the initial voucher, the user has to enter it again every ten days. This is quite horrible.

After many and many tests I can confirm that all written by sanjay_kumar is not actually true in this moment.
Session duration and session timeout function the same and "Session timeout" doesn't reset when a device exits the wifi.

Depending on your setup, some routers and systems let you adjust or even disable session timeouts in the settings, but it’s not always an option with every provider or device.
For what it’s worth, I’ve found a SIP app that works well for calls even if the Wi-Fi drops—check the home page if you’re interested. It’s been a bit more reliable for me, especially in situations where I can't afford to keep getting cut off.

I have tested many times. it seems that session counter will not reset when the device left the wifi network. it will keep counting even the device leave the network.
