Hello everyone

Sorry my english is poor

that I have a question is

I want to use Vsz and a R510 AP , 802.1x Authentication
but now , when I connect wifi , and enter the Radius server user name and password
I can't get the wifi..

those images is my setting on Vsz and Radius server

Hi Jim,

As you are using your vSZ as RADIUS proxy, have you authorised it on your RADIUS server? You will need to manually authorise the IP of the vSZ in your RADIUS server to allow it to act as the authenticator for clients.

Any logs from this RADIUS server to see RADIUS Access requests are coming from vSZ?

I can add that the configuration of 802.1x on the RADIUS side is not trivial task but it's well documented.

Hi Jim, it looks like you're using a QNAP NAS as your RADIUS server?

The screenshot you pasted above is to configure the QNAP NAS as a RADIUS client, not to authorise your vSZ as an authenticator.

I'm not sure how or even if this is possible with a QNAP RADIUS as this kind of functionality is normally configured in an Enterprise RADIUS such as Microsoft NPS.

I'd recommend asking the QNAP support community for advice.

Hi, I have used this with QNAP, and it works.

QNAP Radius support has limited functionality, but you can get QNAP administrative users to be accepted on WiFi with RADIUS. Only EAP-TLS/PAP, EAP-TTLS/PAP, PAP are supported.

Configuration is unde Control Panel/ Applications/ Radius Server.

You need to enable Radius server, as well as add controllers as Radius clients in the next tab (Radius clients), defining IP and secret (secret need to be added in controller configuration for Radius server (with qnap address).

There are some limits on length and allowed symbols in user passwords (I found that long and sophisticated passwords are truncated, so check how long you can get it and what are acceptable symbols).

I want to add that Microsoft NPS is the most used RADIUS server in enterprise practice, unfortunately, because MS AD is commonly used (also unfortunately) -- even so it works stable with decent functionality, it is difficult to troubleshoot, and has a lot of limitations (not very documented). NPS functionality as Radius is very average, just a bit higher than very basic.

But as it installation is very trivial, and it's enough for basic needs, it is used very often.
