I’m not to overly worried about wifi6, I’m still on ADSL and lucky to get 6mbps download speeds. Broad band should be in my area in the next 6 months so should have up to 100mbps. Internet is slow and expensive down here. In saying that if wifi 6 is going to end up on the 310’s I could hold off and put more 310’s in when they get it?

New Install: What do I need?

I built a new large house 630m2 /. 6500sqf

2 story double brick walls downstairs with single brick internal walls. Cavity brick upstairs with timber plasterboard walls.

I have wired ethernet running to 3 tv points, 4 bedrooms and the office, approx 8 points. Cat 6 cables. 3 tv’s and a PlayStation are connected to the Ethernet. I can pull a few more cables but would prefer to use what’s already there.

Upstairs in the study I have an Apple time capsule shown in red providing wifi for the upstairs and 2 powerline wifi point downstairs show in green on the floor plan.

My wifi is poor at best and needs to be replaced. Number of devices regularly connected to the wifi is 4 smart phones, 3 tablets, 4 laptops plus up to 10 guests devices if my kids have friends over.

I need wifi in my yard approx 100m in either direction ( yellow arrows)

I don’t know how many access points I need?

Can anyone suggest numbers and models?

Any thoughts on my system?

Just based on sqft, you need at least 4 unleashed aps and need to strategically place them. Haven’t dealt with brick much for materials.

Get at least the r610 unleashed since it has more antenna patterns than the r510. If you didn’t mind getting used r710 on eBay you can get them at a very good deal on eBay and flash them to unleashed. If you have the money, and can wait a little you might consider the r750, but will have to wait til they release unleashed firmware by the end of the year maybe. The r750 is WiFi 6 which is ruckus’s flag ship ap now. Based on ruckus’s past patterns, Ruckus wouldn’t ship their mid class WiFi 6 ap til a year after this flagship ap. So the future r650 and r550 won’t be shipping til summer 2020.

I lean toward R510 or R610 models too, not sure if Product Marketing will port WiFi 6 to R310.
