Hello,

I have a Lennar home with the original builder-installed Ruckus system. The equipment includes:

* ARRIS/Xfinity combination modem and router
* One ceiling-mounted Ruckus Unleashed access point, believed to be an R510
* Original ICX7150-C12P PoE switch
* One wired DirecTV Gemini

The system worked properly for approximately six years.

Recently, the ICX7150-C12P began repeatedly restarting. It would complete its boot process, power the access point, and operate for approximately 10–15 minutes before restarting again.

Troubleshooting performed on the ICX included:

* Different electrical outlets
* Different Ethernet ports on both the ARRIS and ICX
* A new Cat6A Ethernet cable
* Disconnecting the access point and DirecTV
* Testing the ICX with minimal connections
* Multiple physical factory resets

During the physical reset, all the LEDs flashed amber as expected, and the switch successfully restarted. However, after operating temporarily, it returned to the same reboot cycle.

I also reviewed the Ruckus Lennar article about an ICX7150 being stuck in boot mode. My symptoms were somewhat different because my switch completed startup, provided PoE, and passed network traffic before restarting. Could this still indicate a corrupted firmware image that requires the USB/Ethernet software-recovery procedure?

I have temporarily replaced the ICX with a new TP-Link TL-SG605P unmanaged Gigabit PoE+ switch.

Current connections:

* Ceiling AP/in-wall white Ethernet cable to TP-Link Port 1 PoE+
* DirecTV to TP-Link Port 4
* ARRIS LAN port to TP-Link Port 5
* Extend Mode is OFF
* PoE Auto Recovery is OFF

The TP-Link remains stable and supplies PoE to the access point. Its Port 1 PoE indicator is solid green, with occasional Ethernet activity.

However, the access point does not complete its startup:

* PWR continuously blinking green
* CTL solid green
* 2.4 GHz light off
* 5 GHz light off
* Recover.Me-38F5B0 appears in the available Wi-Fi networks

The original Ruckus 5 GHz network, Buckeye 1012-2, is no longer available. A separate Buckeye 2.4 GHz network remains available even when the TP-Link and access point are powered off, so that network appears to be coming directly from the ARRIS router.

I also performed a complete ordered restart:

1. Powered off the TP-Link and access point
2. Powered off the ARRIS
3. Waited at least one minute
4. Powered the ARRIS back on
5. Waited until Internet service was fully restored
6. Powered the TP-Link and access point back on
7. Waited more than ten minutes

The access point returned to the same condition: blinking PWR, solid CTL, radio lights off, and Recover.Me broadcasting.

I have not factory-reset the access point because I do not want to erase the existing Unleashed configuration unnecessarily.

I also do not know the Unleashed administrator credentials. I tried admin/admin and several commonly suggested Lennar passwords, but none worked.

The access point cable runs from the media cabinet in a closet, through the attic, to the ceiling-mounted AP, so temporarily bypassing the in-wall cable is not practical.

Could someone please advise:

1. Is the TP-Link TL-SG605P compatible with this Ruckus access point, or is an ICX switch required?
2. What does blinking green PWR, solid green CTL, both radio lights off, and Recover.Me indicate?
3. Is there a recovery procedure that does not require the existing Unleashed administrator credentials?
4. Should I factory-reset the access point, and what steps would be required to rebuild the Unleashed network afterward?
5. Does this indicate an AP configuration or firmware issue, a DHCP/Ethernet problem, or an AP hardware failure?
6. Should I attempt software recovery on the original ICX7150-C12P?

Thank you for any assistance

Hi there.

I see you have an AP stuck in "recover.me". Please perform a factory reset on the affected AP so it can rejoin the Unleashed network back again. Here I include a link with the steps for the factory reset:

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Lennar-Support-Knowledge/How-to-Factory-Reset-Your-RUCKUS-R510-R310-Access-Point-and-Set/ta-p/73964

Regards,

Thank you for the response. Before performing the factory reset, I checked the Ethernet/PoE connection at the ceiling AP. I could not completely remove the plug, but I pushed and reseated it as firmly as possible, then power-cycled the new TP-Link PoE+ switch.

After that, the AP completed startup normally:

* PWR solid green
* CTL solid green
* 2.4 GHz green
* 5 GHz green
* Recover.Me disappeared
* The original 5.0 network returned

I connected to 5.0 network in airplane mode and measured approximately 169.5 Mbps download and 35 Mbps upload. The system has remained stable so far.

I have therefore not factory-reset the AP because the original configuration is now working. Does this result suggest that the AP-side Ethernet connector or cable termination was the cause? If Recover.Me returns, should the cable/termination be tested before performing a factory reset?

Then leave everything alone and monitor it. The fact that it recovered immediately after manipulating the ceiling connector—and now delivers more than 100 Mbps—strongly suggests the physical connection was marginal. Not proven forever yet, but resetting a working AP now would be fixing success until it breaks.
