Upgrading Nightmare

I upgraded my internet service to 200MBPS and when I did a speed test when on the Ruckus it would not pass 80MBPS. I was told I needed to upgrade my firmware, I did this numerous times because each time something would happen and the switch would not respond. I finally was able to upgrade to SPS08080f.bin. When I then tried to upgrade to SPS08095gufi.bin the switch just stops responding and I had to do a reset. I am happy the I am now geting the correct speed but I still have errors. One is a mismatch error and the other is if I try to do a reload I get an error stating the POE firmware needs to be updated before reload. I am posting what I did and the results. Any help is appreciated.

I did :

copy tftp flash 10.0.0.116 mnz10114.bin bootrom

copy tftp flash 10.0.0.116 SPS08080f.bin primary

show flash and when I did write mem and entered y nothing seemed to happen. eventually i was able to telnet in but again BOTH AP's are out and its flashing Amber on Update and I cant ping the tftp server from the switch to do the other commands. I have to reset this yet again and hope it comes back. AP's have lights but I CAN NOT ping anything on my network from the switch!! I can't press reset because it seems like something is stuck in there.

UPDATE: I redid the copy tftp flash 10.0.0.116 SPS08080f.bin primary because copy tftp flash 10.0.0.116 SPS08095gufi.bin primary everything went down. So now the AP's are up and the speed is correct. I am showing you the details. As you see there is a mismatch error. When I try to do a reload I am getting an error about POE FIrmware version needs to be updated before I can reload

Thank you for the response and the update.

As I see from the command output you shared, the Switch is now upgraded to the 08080f version.

Now you can perform the below commands and upgrade to the 08095g version.

“copy tftp flash <tftpipaddress> SPS08095gufi.bin primary” (upgrade the image)

“Show flash” (check the primary flash has the new code)

“Write memory” (save the changes)

“boot system flash primary” (boot the Switch with the new code)

“copy flash flash secondary" (will copy what is in the primary)

As I stated I tried to upgrade to SPS08095gufi.bin. This caused the switch not to come back. I had to redo the firmware back to 08080f, and to get this going and the switch to work took over an hour of trying. The speed is as expected at this point, but I am concerned about the two errors I mentioned in the previous post.

It looks like I can no longer do a reset as something seems to be in there, so I do not want to go through this again especially since I can't talk to a tech on the phone as I do it. Can you please advise me on the 2 errors mentioned in the previous post (mismatch error and the POE Firmware).

Thank you for the response and the update.

That error can be ignored, I suggest upgrading the Switch to 08095g as this is a stable version.

Regarding the Switch upgrade from 08080f to 08095g process, we recommend using the upgrade tool we have introduced recently that works only after the 8080f version.

To facilitate this transition, we have recently introduced an upgrade tool tailored to ensure a seamless process. Utilizing this tool is straightforward: users simply need to input the IP Address, Username, and password associated with the Switch into the software interface.

If you don't know the username/password, please perform below commands to reset:

enable

configure terminal

device(config)# username super password pass

Where the username is ’super’ and password ‘pass’ (You could choose any of your choices)

In order to allow the correct authentication please run the following commands:
Device(config)#crypto key generate rsa

device(config)#aaa authentication login default local

device(config)#aaa authentication web-server default local

Thank you for information. So the mismatch error can be ignored but what about when I try to do a reload and get the POE firmware error? I will run those commands tonight since I am not doing an upgrade. These commands are just to allow access via web? My concern is like the other times when thing go wrong I have no one to call. Is there a number I can call? Also, when the switch first comes up are the AP's getting power delayed. Sometimes it seems like the switch is up and I see activity on other ports but the ports that the AP's are on have no lights.

Given the POE firmware error, it’s essential to update the POE firmware to match the switch firmware version. This should resolve the power-related issues with your APs. If you notice delays in power to the APs, it might be worth checking the POE settings and ensuring the firmware versions are fully compatible. For immediate support, Ruckus support might offer direct help, especially since you mentioned challenges with phone support.

I have not done this as I need to be able to work from home, can't have the switch go down again, and have no one to call to help. I probably will not try to upgrade for at least 2-3 weeks. I am getting the correct speed, so I am extremely hesitant to upgrade yet again. As I stated before when I tried to upgrade to SPS08095gufi.bin I had too many issues. Again, there were lights on some of the ports, but the 2 AP ports did not come back. So again, my question is this, is there a delay for 2 ports (the ones the ruckus AP's are connected to) delayed?

As I have stated before, right now the speed is correct so I am very hesitant to do the upgrade with no one for support. Also, you have not answered my question that I have asked more then once. Is there a delay on the switch for the AP's? When I have done the other updates, I have link lights on almost all the ports EXCEPT the 2 the AP's are on.

As previously indicated many times, and to answer your question once again it is advisable to upgrade the Switch to the recommended version. Additionally, a factory reset of the Access Point followed by the reconfiguration of the new Wi-Fi network may be necessary.

However, the port lights depend on the ISP speed transmission and PoE status.

When I do the updates, the switch reboots and the ports that have the 2 AP;s connected do not come up while the other ports usually come up (I see the link lights on the switch). The 2 ports that have the AP's connected have NO lights. This leads me to believe something is wrong. I go back to the older version and there are times again there are NO lights on the 2 ports the AP;s are connected to while I do see the other ports have status lights. This is why I am constantly asking if there is some sort of delay on the ports that the AP;s are connected to. This happened with the version I am on now. I was giving up for the night and then I noticed the AP;s were online.

To me once I do the update and switch reboot ALL PORTS should be up and running and everything working. This does not seem to be the case. Again, the 2 ports the AP's are connected to have NO link lights and no activity in the switch but I usually see the other ports have the link lights and activity.

Hopefully this explains what I am referring to.

As outlined in the link provided in my previous message, the LED indicators on the Access Point are related to data transmission/receiving and PoE status.

If the LEDs on the Access Point are functioning correctly and you are able to connect devices wirelessly, then the status of the Switch ports should not be a concern.
