Ruckus AP USB port capabilities

Hi,

I'm looking for information about the capabilities of the USB port on Ruckus AP's (R510, E510, T310, ...) and how to (if possible) tunnel data from/to the connected USB devices to the controlplane or dataplane (SmartZone & SmartZone dataplane) for use on another system.

Is there an API available to attach and use custom USB devices.

I'm told that the USB interface, next to iot devices, is fully usable but I'm having difficulty locating relevant documentation.

Any pointers in the right direction is greatly appreciated.

Hi Wim,

The USB port on the AP is only meant for an IoT dongle.

No other usage is supported.

Thank you for your response. It appears we have been misinformed by a sales representative who said one could connect anything as long as it's a USB 2.0 device and you can work with the API.

That aside, can you be more specific about "an IoT dongle", please?

I have found the Ruckus i100 IoT Module.

(supports BLE and Zigbee)

Hi Wim,

Correct currently we have the i100 USB module which can do Zigbee, BLE.

More might come, while the newer AP modules have the IoT part build in.

Best to contact our sales team, to get the list of other modules.
