Use Ruckus Unleashed mobile app to hide SSID of wireless network

To hide or unhide a wireless network SSID, I must use the Unleashed web interface. I would like to have this option in the Ruckus Unleashed mobile app.

Hi,

I am assuming you want to hide a wireless network SSID on a Venue? To do that you can select Venues tile from the dashboard -> Select the Venue -> Scroll down and select the Networks tile. Here you should see a switch against each network that you can turn on or off for a network.

That screen doesn't look familiar. I'm using the Ruckus Unleashed mobile app, selecting the WLANs screen, then selecting the wifi network in question. I want to hide (or show) the SSID for the given network via the mobile app, which is not possible in the current version, 6.83.5.

Hi! By hide or show do you mean you want to disable/enable the WLAN? If so you can click the power icon on the Network Details page.

Please note that if you are using local WLAN to do this you will lose access to this WLAN if disabled. In that case you won't be able to connect to the Unleashed network using the WLAN. And if there is no WLAN then you will have to connect a laptop with wire with your Unleashed Network to enable the WLAN.

No, I mean enable or disable SSID broadcast for the wifi network.

Hi! The green power icon on WiFi network detail will in fact enable or disable SSID broadcast. Please give it a go.

That’s not correct. The green power icon disables the wifi network. I don’t want that. Thanks for your input, but you don’t seem to understand the request.

Let me check with my team and get back to you. It seems you want the WLAN to stay enabled but just hide the broadcast of the SSID.

Correct. This is possible via the Unleashed web site, and I'd like it available in the mobile app. That was the original request. Sorry if I was unclear.

Unfortunately, the engineer responding above did not have a solution. To date, I have not seen this option added in the mobile app, though I would still find it very useful.

Hi @spencer_mears and @lanmastermark we understand this request and will add it to one of our future releases. There is a release going out around May end unfortunately this feature won't be in that release, but I will prioritize it to be added in the very next release and update in this thread once we have the feature added.

@arsalan_habib The green power icon disables/enables the network. This is not the same thing as SSID broadcast. I'd like the option to enable/disable SSID broadcast for the network.

Hi folks,

Just wanted to give an update that we have pulled this feature for the Mobile App version we will release alongside Unleashed firmware 200.11 which is expected in late September.

To access this feature you could go to the WLAN details -> Edit WLAN -> Show Advanced -> Enable/Disable Hide SSID option.
