I have a warehouse with about 30 R510's. I need to put two APs in heating boxes designed for APs - they get power from POE to keep the units warm. My guy has used Aruba's in the past that support antennas which attach to the units and stick out of the heating boxes. Can you tell me if the R510 supports these or which units you would recommend? I've put R510s at their other warehouse which is just below freezing without issue but this freezer is going to be very cold so I want to prep it.

Hello,

As Ruckus APs utilise specialist internal antennas (BeamFlex+) only a few, specific models support external antenna connector options.

Currently this is the T750se and in the future will be the T350se. Also it is possible to attach an external antenna to the E510 AP - however this is designed to be the external BeamFlex+ module. This AP is intended for external use and is ruggedised. Further details here: https://www.commscope.com/product-type/enterprise-networking/wireless-access-points/outdoor/e510/

It may also be worth considering installing the T310d inside the freezer as this can operate down to -40 degrees C.

I hope the above helps.

Best,
Darrel.

Thanks - so just to be clear,

I could buy an R510 plus the e510 and the heater box

Or I could buy just the T310d and nothing else?

@boedillard Both the T310d and the E510+Antenna module are IP67 rated for water/dust ingress and operating temperature rated down to -40 degrees C.

The T310 is a simpler solution a it is a single unit with built-in BeamFlex+ antenna. However it may be possible to install the E510 outside of the freezer and just install the antenna module inside the freezer as cables are available upto 3 metres between the two units.

If you have any further questions I would recommend speaking to your local Ruckus partner for further details.
