Meshing takes place on 5 GHz band. 2741 is a single name 2.4 AP. You cannot and should not mesh swingle band AP

I have a ZoneDirector 1100, 4 Zoneflex 7363 and one ZoneFlex 2741. 2 Zoneflex 7363 are Root AP as is the ZF 2741. I am trying to mesh one ZF7363 to the ZF2741 but it does not see it (even from a few meters).

I have followed the same guidelines to mesh a ZF7363 to another 7363 (plug it to the network, let it configure then replug it without network).

Do you know if I can mesh a SF 7363 to a ZF2741 or is it not possible ?

Thanks

Gilles

Thanks Jason, Did not know that. On paper (Ruckus papers) it says 2741 supports meshing as a node

There's slightly more to it- it's the band they use. any 2.4GHz only AP uses 2.4 for mesh, where dual-band uses the 5GHz. If you had a different 2.4-only AP like a 2942, or a 7343, that would work as a root.

It's of little help in this scenario, but may help others who stumble across this.

That changes a lot.

That this mean that I can use my 2741 as a root AP and a 7343/2942 as a mesh AP ? I need to bridge to put a couple of LAN cameras at the other end of the mesh ?

I still have 7363 root APs and also 7363 mesh APs on the same Zonedirector. Will that not conflict ?

The 2741 should work as a root for those mesh APs. We have a client using 2.4GHz mesh and dual-band APs on the same ZD, so that shouldn't be an issue. It just means that you'll have to place the APs accordingly.

Big Thumbs' Up (oneofthemany), and for those w/o support I'm happy to share the details.

802.11b/g only APs, can mesh with each other. 802.11b/g/n only APs can mesh with each other

These APs cannot mesh with dual-band model APs, that use 5G for mesh. Note: Clients CAN use

the same band as your AP is meshing with, if only single-band models.

Ruckus ZF 2925, 2942, and 2741 will mesh with each other on 2.4 ghz on 802.11g
Ruckus ZF 7343, 7942 & 7352 will mesh with each other on 2.4 ghz on 802.11n
Ruckus ZF 7962, 7762, 7363, 7372, 7982 & 7782 will mesh with each other on 5 ghz only, on 802.11an
Ruckus ZF 7962, 7762, 7363, 7372, 7982 & 7782 will mesh with R500, R600, R700, T300-series, H500 on 5 ghz only, on 802.11an
Ruckus 802.11ac APs R500, R600, R700, T300-series, H500 will mesh with each other on 5 ghz only, on 802.11an (*ac planned
