I have a mix of R510, R610, and R710. All seem to have the connection failures. My Vsz is on version 6.3.1.0.227. I started having the connection failure problem on the first version of 3.6. My APs are on firmware version 3.6.1.0.354. I can downgrade the APs to the latest 3.5 version and the connection failures go away.

5ghz channel width is set to 80MHz.

On the non-DFS question. I have the channelization set to Auto. Out of 110 APs, i have 14 on channel 36 and 9 on channel 149

Currently recommended firmware for vSZ

I am about to deploy a new instance of vSZ with about 40 R610 APs.

The support section for vSZ downloads says the "recommended firmware" is 3.5.1 plus WPA2 Krack patch. However, the latest available release is 3.6.1.0.227.

I'd rather not start a new instance with an older firmware version.

Is anyone using 3.6.1.0.227 in a production environment or know any good reason to avoid it for a new deployment?

Thanks.

I am running 3.6.1.0.354 in my production environment. The only issue is it falsely reports connection failures. Other than that the latest firmware seems to works fine.

I have been running 3.6.1.0.227 for several weeks and haven't had any issues. I have 17x R610s. I didn't notice the connection failure issue that Paul is talking about on the AP firmware version that corresponds with the controller version (.227).

Paul & Ryan,

I'm curious as if you're both using R610 of a few questions:

Are you also using 3.6 for the Zone firmware that is applied to the APs?

What is your 5 GHz channel width set to (if not auto)?

How many of your R610s selected a non-DFS (34-48 & 149-165) channel (if you're letting Channelization choose the channels for the APs).

Thanks

Running 3.6.1.0.227 as well, with all APs (72 R610, 2 T301s) on 3.6.1.0.354. No problems other than the incorrect connection failures, which has been mentioned here. 5GHz channel width is set to 40MHz. Currently 13 of the 74 have chosen a non-DFS channel.
