zf7363 can't connect to ZD1000

I have a ZD1000 with licensed AP 12.
Already a r300 and and a zf7363 connected.

When i connect another zf7363 i have no connection for the 3th one.
Also a 4th and 5th do not have connection.

The 3th, 4th and 5th is comming from a working network.

facoty default them and make sure you connect them in the same L2 domain. They wil then find the ZD and pull the config(if you have automatc approval enabled. Otherwise you will need to approve them first in your ZD)

And check what software version are on the AP''s further the same as 1Said said already.

After factory default there is no connection to the ZD.
But i also connect a AP who have worked in another network and these AP's connected without any problem.

After this i knew what happened with the AP which cannot connect to the ZD.
They where configured to a Virtual ZoneDirector before i connected them to a ZD1000.
So i think there is the problem. But the factory settings do not overrule the configuration from the Virtual ZD

Hi Sander,

If the APs were managed by a vSZ or having a vSZ firmware on it, then please upgrade the APs to 104.x AP standalone firmware before joining them to the ZoneDirector.

Yes it was managed bij a vSZ.
When i look on the ruckus site (https://support.ruckuswireless.com/products/21-zoneflex-7363#firmwares) i only see till version 100.x and not 104.x

Can you send me a link to the firmware?

7363 is an EoL AP. So, we do not have 104.x firmware released for it.

You can upgrade the AP to the ZD's image with the below process.

1. Login to CLI/SSH of ZD using any tool like Putty,etc.,

2. Follow the below commands.

ruckus>en
ruckus#config
ruckus(config)#sys
ruckus(config-sys)#ftp-anon
ruckus(config-sys)#end

3. Browse ftp:// IP address> and select ZF7363 folder. Save the file with name rcks_fw.bl7 file.

4. Upgrade the AP using this firmware and connect it to the network.

AP should auto discover ZD if there are on same L2 network and should connect.

When i make the ftp connection i see a lot of maps.
One of them is the zf7363 map with a 9.10.0.0.218 map
In this map there are 6 files. All the files are 1 kB
Also the rcks_fw.bl7 file

I i upgrade the AP with this file i get a error
"Bad image size"

What can i do?

what Firmware are you running on the ZD1000? Maybe i an send you the FW to localy update the AP

Firmware of the ZD1000 is 9.10.0.0 build 218

if you can send me an email to said_san2@hotmail.com i can send you a wetransfer link with the 9.8.x Zoneflex firmware. That is the latest for this AP model. That will create a connection to your ZD. The ZD will then upgrade your AP to the 9.10.x firmware

I have done all the steps you writed before, the ZD has the Firmware 9.3.4.0 build 21 the zf7363 has the Firmware 9.3.4.0.21 downloaded by ftp from the ZD. I have also tried via putty to set director IP on the zf, but there is no connection to the ZD possible. Have you any other idea to connect. Best regards

Do all your APs local to the ZD connect / upgrade / get configured correctly?
Is it only the remote APs that are not connecting?
Does the ZD see them under Monitor/Access Points at all?Is it one extended VLAN, or is there a DHCP/DNS server at the remote site? Does it provide Option 43 with ZD IP, or DNS with 'zonedirector.localdomain' defined?

If your remote sites use VPN encapsulation, try reducing the MTU packet size. Otherwise, there is a minimum round-trip-time for AP/ZD communications too.

9 APs are connect correctly, it is a 12 APs licence, I have eight zf2942 and one zf7363 connected succesfully at the moment. I have three further zf7363 APs, but these are not connecting to the zd or are not visable.
Only the zf7363 don't connect.
No, it is not possible to see under Monitor/Access Points, no VLAN. The are all in the same network, normally we use fix IPs but there is a small zone for DHCP where the new AP is in. But I have tried also with a fix IP no change. From AP the ZD is possible to ping and also from ZD to AP it is possible. No VPN encapsulation is used. What do you mean with Option 43?

Dear rasmus, unfortunately I had no success. I tried different firmware versions, but always the same - no connection. My guess is that there are so-called standalone ap, the don't work with the ZD. But if you find a solution, please let me know.

I push down the reset button on all 28 APs 30sec and the 30 sec with power connection and then 30 sec again and the they all came accept one, but i have a crazy system with ZD so that probably why.
