When I select channel 100 with channelization set to 80MHz on my Ruckus R650 unleashed, what does it actually do? What range of channels or frequencies is actually used? What if I choose channel 128? Some people say that the chosen channel is the center channel and that the used frequencies are centered around it but that can't always be true. List of WLAN channels - Wikipedia

Or does it mean, if you choose 80MHz then any channel chosen between 100 and 112 inclusive will result in channel 100 through 112 to be fully used and if you choose a channel between 116 and 128 inclusive it will result in channel 116 through 128 to be fully used? That would mean you can't use channel 108-120 for example.

Hi ,

When channelization is set to 80 MHz, selection of channel means the primary channel for operation in 80 MHz band.

If you look at the bandwidth of any channel from (100 to 112) using 20 Mhz bandwidth, in that case the centered channel named as 106( i.e. from 5490–5570)

Similarly for (100 to 112), centered channel named as 122 for 80 MHz (i.e from 5570–5650).

If you check the range you are utilization all the available channels based on the band size.

Thank you for the response. Unfortunately, it is still not clear to me. Does the AP use frequency 5490 through 5570 if I choose any channel between 100 and 112 at 80MHz bandwidth?

And does it use frequency 5580 through 5650 if I choose any channel between 116 and 128?

If yes, then there is no way to use, for example, the frequencies 5530 (channel 108) through 5610 (channel 120) with a 80MHz bandwidth?

Hello,

Does the AP use frequency 5490 through 5570 if I choose any channel between 100 and 112 at 80MHz bandwidth?

And does it use frequency 5580 through 5650 if I choose any channel between 116 and 128?

Answer : Yes.
Explanation: When channel bonding is done, channel numbers are predefined for every bonding, 40 MHz, 80 MHz, 160 Mhz.
e.g. as below:

100-112, 116-128 (80 MHz bonding )
100-104, 108-112, 116-120, 124-128 (40 MHz bonding)

Channel 108 -120 does not form a 80 MHz bonding.

Hope this answers your query.
