I am a Lennar homeowner and the RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P switch installed in my home suddenly stopped working.

When I connect power, the LEDs briefly flash amber and then all LEDs turn off. The switch does not remain powered on and there is no network connectivity.

I have completed the following troubleshooting:

• Confirmed the wall outlet is working with another device.
• Tested the switch using the original power cable.
• Tested the switch using a second known-good compatible power cable.
• Disconnected all Ethernet cables and tested the switch with only AC power connected.
• Performed the physical reset procedure multiple times, including holding RESET while applying power.
• The behavior remains unchanged: brief amber LED flash followed by all LEDs turning off.

I initially opened a support/RMA case through the RUCKUS support portal, but I was advised that, as a Lennar homeowner, I need to post the request in this community for assistance with the replacement.

Based on the troubleshooting above, I am requesting approval for an RMA/replacement of the ICX-7150-C12P.

Please let me know if you need any additional information or documentation from me to proceed.

Ruckus ICX 7150-C12P is not workin. There is no power supply to controller and access points. It appears like the unit is dead. I am checking if my devices are covered under warranty for replacement.

A) Connecting to the Access Point

1. On your device, open the list of available Wi-Fi networks.

2. Look for a network named “Configure.Me-1807D0”, where 1807D0 represents the last six digits of your Access Point’s MAC address.

Note: This part of the name is unique to each device.

3. Select and connect to this network.

4. After connecting, please wait a moment while your device establishes communication with the Access Point. This may take a short time.

B)  Starting the Setup

1. After connecting to the Configure.Me network, wait until the Wi-Fi symbol appears in the status bar at the top of your screen.

This indicates that the connection has been established.

C)  Launch the Unleashed app

1. Open the Ruckus Unleashed app on your mobile device and Select the Typical Install to start the setup procedure.

2.  Press the Blue Start button to begin the setup process.

(The Access Point will be set to Automatic (DHCP) by default. This means it will automatically receive an IP address from your ISP’s modem/router).

3.  By default, the Access Point is configured to Automatic (DHCP) mode, which allows it to obtain an IP address automatically from your DHCP server, typically from your Internet Service Provider’s (ISP) router or modem.

D) Create Your Wi-Fi Network

1. Set your Wi-Fi network name (SSID). Choose a name different from your existing ISP-provided Wi-Fi to avoid confusion.

2.  Set a strong Wi-Fi password.

3.  Select the country where the Access Point is located.

E)  Create Admin credentials

1.   Set up a secure admin username and password for managing your network.

2.   Add a password recovery email address and a security question for account recovery.

F)  Review and Finish

1.  Review all your settings and make sure your username and password are correct.

2.  It is recommended to note down your configuration details for future reference.

Once everything looks good, tap Finish.

G)   Finalize Setup

1.   The Access point will now reboot.

2.  After the reboot is complete, reconnect your device to the new Wi-Fi network (SSID) you just created.

Steps to perform Reset:

 A)  Assigning and connecting Master AP

1.  If you have multiple Access Points (APs) in your home, please locate the RUCKUS ICX-12P SWITCH in the network panel and temporarily disconnect the Ethernet cables for all APs except  the one you're working on. This will ensure a smooth and uninterrupted configuration process.

2.   It is recommended to keep the Access Point acting as the Master AP connected to the RUCKUS ICX-12P SWITCH. You can identify the Master AP by its CTL (Control) light, which will be the only one showing a solid green status.

B) Initiating the Reset process

1.  Once the preferred Access Point is connected to the RUCKUS ICX-12P SWITCH and powered on, locate the RESET button on the rear side of the device to proceed with the reset process.

2.  Using a pointed object, such as a paperclip or the tip of a pen, press and hold the RESET button. Continue holding the button for approximately 15 to 20 seconds until the device begins the reset process. In a few cases, the factory reset process may need to be repeated to ensure it is successfully completed.

3.   After the reset is complete, the PWR LED will initially display a solid red light, indicating that the device is in the boot-up process. It will then begin blinking green, confirming that the Access Point has successfully returned to its factory default state.

C) Configuring New Wireless Network

1.   Once the reset is completed, a new wireless network should now be visible.
The network name will appear as "CONFIGURE.ME-XXXXXX", where "XXXXXX" represents the last six digits of the Access Point’s MAC address. You can easily customize and set up this network using the Ruckus Unleashed app, which can be downloaded to your mobile device. Refer the picture for the pictorial representation of the Access point’s MAC address.

2.  We recommend watching the following video to guide you through creating your Wi-Fi network using the RUCKUS Unleashed mobile app. Start watching from minute 1:12 to see the step-by-step instructions for setting up your network. Follow the instructions in the video to complete the setup, including network name, password, and admin credentials. 

3.  Once the setup of the primary Access Point is complete, ensure that the new wireless network is working properly. Go to the RUCKUS ICX-12P SWITCH  where the other Access Points were previously disconnected.

4.   Reconnect the Ethernet cables of the remaining RUCKUS Access Points to their respective ports on the RUCKUS ICX-12P SWITCH.

5.  Wait for a few minutes while the Access Points power up and automatically join the newly configured network. Verify the connection by checking that the CTL (Control) LEDs on the Access Points turn solid green, indicating successful adoption into the network.

Note: In the below example I am using the IP address '192.168.0.3' to go to the admin dashboard 

2 ) Use the management credentials.

4 ) Click Create ( In this example we are going to use 'Standar-Open-WPA2' )

5 ) Enter a Name for this wireless network.

Select the options that you want use for this new SSID :

Standard ( suggested ) : Use this WLAN type for most regular wireless network usage.

Guest : Use this WLAN type for a guest WLAN. Guest access policies and access controls will be applied. For more information, see Guest WLANs.

Hotspot: Use this WLAN type for a Hotspot (aka, WISPr) WLAN. To deploy a Hotspot WLAN, you must first configure a Hotspot Service. For more information, see Hotspot Services.

Authentication Method

Open (suggested ) : No authentication method is used. "Open" authentication allows the use of WPA2, WPA3, WPA2/WPA3-Mixed, OWE, or no encryption. Open authentication + WPA2 encryption (also known as WPA-PSK) is the most common type of WLAN encryption method and should be the default configuration if there are no special requirements for authentication or encryption.

802.1X EAP: Authentication against either the internal database or an external RADIUS server. The 802.1X EAP authentication method (also known as "WPA2-Enterprise") provides effective authentication regardless of the encryption method, and requires a back-end (RADIUS) authentication server. WPA2-Enterprise provides secure connectivity by ensuring that every device must authenticate to an authentication server before it is allowed access to network resources. Authentication can be based on digital certificates, and granular policies can be designed to govern the level of access and to provide visibility and control over devices on the network.

MAC Address: Authentication using the client's MAC address against an external RADIUS server or internal database.

 Encryption Method

• WPA2: Encrypt traffic using the WPA2 standard. The WPA2 encryption method complies with the 802.11i security standard. Announced in 2004, WPA2 encryption remains mandatory for all new products that bear the Wi-Fi trademark.
• WPA3: WPA3 standard replaces WPA2 with several security enhancements.
• WPA2/WPA3-Mixed: Allows mixed networks of WPA2- and WPA3-compliant devices.
• OWE: (Opportunistic Wireless Encryption) provides encrypted communications for open networks.
• None: No encryption; communications are sent in clear text.

  7 ) Create a Password

  8 ) Click in the ‘Show Advanced Options’

  

   

  9 ) Go to Radio Control options 

  

  10 ) Select the option that says 5 GHz Only or 2.4 GHz Only to work just in that radio. ( step optional )

   

  

  11 ) Then, After that Check new SSID Wi-Fi name in your dashboard.

  

   

  12 ) Wait until it appears in the Wi-Fi settings on your device and connect the devices to it ' RUCKUS-EMPLOYEE' .

Steps to upgrade: 

A. Initial version upgrade: 

When upgrading from a non-UFI version, we must first upgrade to the initial version (08.0.80f) before proceeding to the recommended version (08.0.95g). 

The Upgrade path would be: Non-UFI version before 08.0.80f version>>08.0.80f>>08.0.95g 

1. Download and extract/unzip the initial version 08.0.80f

2. Navigate to the ICX 7150 > Boot directory and copy the mnz10114.bin file.

3. Navigate to the ICX 7150>Images folder and copy SPS08080f.bin

B. Download 08.0.95g version images:

1. Log in to the RUCKUS Support Downloads page . 

2. Select RUCKUS ICX7150 Campus Switches from the ‘Choose A Product’ menu.

3. Select 08.0 from the Version menu.

4. Select RUCKUS ICX FastIron 08.0.95g (GA) Software Release (.zip). 

5. Click Download software.

6. Unzip the downloaded file and extract all contents. 

7. Navigate to the ICX 7150 > Images folder and copy SPS08095gufi.bin and paste in the same folder we created previously.

8. Create a new folder named Upgrade and copy the following files into it: mnz10114.bin, SPS08080f.bin, and SPS08095gufi.bin.

C.   Connect the USB drive to the RUCKUS ICX-7150 Switch 

Insert the USB drive into the designated USB port on the ICX-7150 switch. (Figure 11)

D. Accessing the Switch 

1. Connect to the switch using SSH, Telnet, or a console connection. 

2. Enter the 'enable’ command to switch to User EXEC mode:

E.   Verify USB Recognition 

1. Use the 'mount disk0' command to ensure the Switch recognizes the USB.

2. Use the 'show files disk0' command to view the contents of the USB drive.

F. Upgrade to Intermediate version 

Note: The switch has two flash storage partitions, Primary and Secondary. 

• 'show flash' command will show the codes installed on both partitions of the switch.

1. Upgrade the bootrom using the command “copy disk0 flash mnz10114.bin bootrom”

2. Upgrade to intermediate version 8080f using the command “copy disk0 flash SPS08080f.bin secondary” (Can install in both primary and secondary partitions)

3.Use the command "show flash" to check if it was installed correctly in the right partition.

4. Use the command “boot system flash secondary yes” to boot the Switch from the secondary partition to make sure the image was installed correctly.

5. Use the 'show version' command to check the current version once the boot process is complete and the version should be 08.0.80f

G.   Upgrade to recommended version 

1. Use the command “copy disk0 flash SPS08095gufi.bin secondary” to copy from intermediate 08.0.80f to recommended version 08.0.95g.

2. Use the command “boot system flash secondary yes” to boot from the secondary partition once the copy is complete.

3. Use the 'show version' command to check the current version once the boot process is complete and the version should be 08.0.95g

H. Synchronize the partitions: 

For best results, we recommend having both partitions on the same version.  

1. Use the command “copy flash flash primary” to re-flash from Secondary to Primary.
